Extreme northern Africa has a Mediterranean climate (gee, what a surprise, considering its location) but the Sahara takes up most of the northern part of Africa. SW Asia varies from warm temperate to hot, humid desert. As a matter of fact, you can find those extremes just in Yemen.

Northern Africa is dry and desert like, Southwest Asia is mainly tropical or semi-tropical, two entirely different climates.
