Anyway trying to figure out why you might think it is related to global warming and it since it wasn't mentioned in the daily mail article. I found another article which the daily mail article seems to have largely copied which states "Gold said some infestations have been traced to hay bales hauled from one place to another for livestock left without grass by the drought that has plagued Texas." [2] If you think that the drought in Texas is a result of global warming (as you seem to suggest) rather then a random event then you could at a pinch attribute the spread to global warming. An assessment Report of the NOAA Drought Task Force Narrative Team seems to think that it is not [3]
In case any one is interested the poison used to kill these ants (Fipronil) is also linked to colony collapse disorder [4].
The only thing I do not understand is why you would you post this question in global warming when there is no nothing in the article that mentions AGW.
