What's the climate below the equator?

Depends on how hot she is.

Hello Jennifer,

How far below the Equator are we talking about?

Around the Equator itself are the Tropical or Megathermal Climate Zones, these are the climates that are largely found between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn – respectively 23° North and South of the Equator. These climates are typified by year round high temperatures, very high humidity and high rainfall.

Moving further away from the Equator are the Mid Temperate or Mesothermal Climate Zones, these are found in the mid latitudes. Here the climates are more moderate with cooler temperatures and significant seasonal variations.

Moving far from the Equator are the Polar Regions – the Arctic and Antarctic (respectively above 67°N and below 67°S). Here the climate is cold and dry all year round.

For ease of reference the world is divided into five main climate groups, each of these is further subdivided. This map shows the divisions and details the climate types:

how far below the equator?

Hot and tropical at the Equator, then getting colder and more barren as you move south till you get to Antarctica, where its really really cold all the time.

About the same as above the equator except when the northern hemisphere is experiencing winter, the southern hemisphere is in summer, and vice versa.
