To stop global warming, why don't we...?

put a big solar panels between us n the sun so that it will block some of the suns rays, and absorb energy?

global warming is a myth

Because you put a big solar panel between the sun and us we freeze. The problem isn't that we get to much sun its that the heat radiation can't easily escape. In addition the life on earth is essential solar powered so if you block the sun light in anyway you kill all life on earth. Plant collect solar power and turn it into feasible calories which then act as the base or bottom of the food chain.

Also how would you get this energy to earth. Solar panels don't produce that much energy and the panels them self cost a fortune...and before you say send space shuttle up there to get the power ...seriously you think the cost for power is high now.

Some people have considered something like that.

Enough such satellites to produce all the power we need would only block an miniscule amount of sunlight. Contrary to what some idiots say, there would be no danger of causing an ice age of of it being to dark for plants to grow. It would also not block enough sunlight to reverse the effects of the carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere, but it could replace hydrocarbons as an energy source, meaning that we will stop putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Great idea, build a 1,000 mile wide mirror. Where are you going to get the money from though? A btter idea would be to create a genetically altured plant that absorbs co2 far more rapidly than any other type of plant and let a few million square miles of the stuff grow, absorb and produce more oxygen.

I'll try to answer this before I sit down to watch The Following. Great idea, build a 1,000 mile wide mirror. Where are you going to get the money from though? A btter idea would be to create a genetically altured plant that absorbs co2 Adios!

Despite some of the idiots that have answered already... this has been thought of before. Though through aerosols injection into the stratosphere not solar panels. Evidence of the cooling effect this brings is evident after major volcanic eruptions such as that of Pinatubo. Aerosols only last a few years in the stratosphere, however, so there would need to be constant injection of the particles and this brings about other bad things such as 'acid rain'.

Why not put those solar panels on the roofs of our homes? It would be a lot cheaper, and produce the electricity right were we need it.

Currently there are 1,441,320 sign ups to support the stop of the global warming, there are more to come. Why don't you join them? Barack Obama express his concern, too.

Net.

Energy.

It's a good question goatman, and my answer is: Net. Better go answer the door now!

Because AlGore said a couple days ago that plants need light to grow. Besides, think of the carbon footprint making a giant solar screen to shield the earth from the sun. Might as well nuke the planet.

I receive it you necessity think your the first to think that. I also feel I choose warm + food rather than icy and hungry.

u do realise that launching stuff into space creates a ton of greenhouse gasses???

I take it you must think your the first to think that.

Wouldn't that reduce crop production?

I think I prefer warm + food rather than cold and hungry.

You make Einstein and Hawkings look like complete morons.
