Carbon taxes are a political means to try and reduce carbon, are they perfect, probably not, but it beats hiding your head in the sand and pretending it's not happening.
I guess deniers have to play this sort of game, trying to pick out obscure political characters and Hollywood movies as talking points to try and cover the fact they have no real reply to the science.
Watching deniers like kano pretend they understand these issues is sad, he seems to think sea level is rising at a fixed rate, basic physics should tell him that as temperature increases the rate of sea level will rise and in fact the tide gauge data shows that with rates up to 1.7mm per year up to the nineties gowning to the current 3.1mm per year, almost doubling as temperature climbed to the current 0.8c rise, if that rate of temp rise is around the minimum the IPCC estimate 2c, then sea level rise will increase correspondingly, as ice melts you have not just the volume added to the oceans but the land exposed it warms more than the ice and snow did, the same is true of Arctic sea ice as it melts it allows more sea water to be warmed by the Sun adding further to thermal expansion.

Which would, if it continues give us around a 3c rise, that is the sort of temperature that would put us on track for over 1m of sea level rise by the end of the century, again if kano new the first thing about this sort of thing he would know that sea level rise also increases and magnifies things like king tides and storm surges.
It seems to be the deniers stance that sea level will some how directly kill people, I'm not sure how they reach such a conclusion given the obvious slow nature of sea level, even at higher rates, the long term effects can and most likely kill million through displacement and flooding of land on which people live and grow food, a 1m sea level would affect most of the coasts of the entire world.

yes humans are responsible for climate change in the past 150 years, a way to reduce CO2 emissions will go a long way in preventing more problems for future generations. Extreme storms, well historical records tells us there are no more extreme storms now than before, and if you think about it, you are more likely to get extreme weather with a cooling climate, as it is the difference between atmospheric temperatures and surface temps that cause weather, the atmosphere warms and cools faster than land or oceans, so with warming, less temperature difference, with cooling, more temperature difference.
I don't even see why a little global warming would be bad.
