Well there won't be a global nuclear war unless of course Putin gets his dream of reassembly the Soviet Union. Nuclear terrorism is a far more likely prospect. The probability of an alien attack is astronomically low, for one, it's highly unlikely that any technologic aliens out there are even close enough to have detected us let alone be able to reach us.
Threats that may occur during our life time are resource issues such as food and water and the eventuality of a technologic singularity. Of course, there are solutions to these problems, some quite obvious but it's unlikely that people are prepared to recognize them as they require a more social benefit attitude than individual or corporate benefit plus many of the concepts are so different from what we're accustomed to that people are unwilling to believe in them till they are proven.
These things are already being considered as possible stepping stones towards the hated One World Government.
Most likely yes. As world resources dwindle our new wars will probably be fought over potable water as crazy as that may sound. Aquifers globally are not sustainable and are depleting. By 2030 many many of our biggest cities will be out of water from over-pumping.
