Why are most things Made in China?

Environment wise? I already know about the sweatshops and cheap costs, but in terms of pollution and the Chinese climate or space (geographically) why are most things made in China?

Because that is how Laissez-faire economy works in the real world. Your aim is proffit and do not worry about negative externalities like pollution unless you are forced to by public opinion of your company (and people stop buying your products), in comparison with other companies, even then advertising is often cheaper then actually fixing the problem.

We even put melamine in milk and other foods, to show a higher protein content in order to get more money, sadly the fact that excess kills people is less important to some then profit. Luckily in western countries there are regulating bodies that protect the consumer somewhat, like in the US there is the EPA (that some right wing extremist hate) to protect human health and the environment. In China those agencies are not as effective.

Because that is how Capitalism works, in a nutshell.

Corporations, big and small, are only interested in one thing: profits. The more the better. Profits are their number 1 priority above anything else (ie, way above keeping people employed at home).

If making a teapot locally costs $1 per unit and getting the same darn things by the thousands from a factory in China at $0.50 per unit, any healthy capitalistic corporation will chose to close their local factory and move their production asap to China. If they don't do it, their competition surely will.

So in the end one ends up with thousands of corporations, big and small, having closed local production factories and moved them all to China while local unemployment is up, the local economy is crunching while that of China is booming.

The consumers (that is you and me) are to blame too. What would you buy first? A local (US) made DVD player at $ 80 or the exact same Chinese build model at $ 65?

A huge labor force that is willing to work for cheap wages, however as wages there are creeping up you can expect to see the sweat shops of the world being relocated.

In order for you to truly understand why things are made in China, you have to understand history. China was the greatest civilization on the earth for thousands of years. They have made things that would take westerners, and other foreigners 100 more years to figure out how to make. The fact of the matter is, the Chinese people are educated, dedicated, and efficient workers. Even if you double their wages instantly, you will still see many things made in China. If you study Goldman Sach's report on the future, then you will see that China is set to claim 25%+ of the world's total GDP in the near future. Although textile companies and other manufacturing may shift to other countries, you can expect China to displace countries like Japan, and Europe in making fine quality goods as the Chinese have historically made. In 20-30 years time, people will not be after a Ferrari, but a Chinese car that no one has heard of yet. Another reason things are made in China is possibly political. Perhaps they have an arrangement with the U.S. government and other foreign governments for loans. If you have not noticed, China owns about $2trillion+ in U.S. treasury bonds, and have extensive investments in countries throughout the world. It's a 2 way street. China isn't just about manufacturing. They are contributing to the world in all sorts of ways.

In recent years, the tendency to move the manufacturing plants back to Europe

I'm not too sure about this one, but I'll give it a shot. A huge labor force that is willing to work for cheap wages, however as wages there are creeping up you can expect to see the sweat shops of the world being relocated. Adios!

This is not a Global Warming question!

Communist ruled. Understand that the Global Monetary Elites will hold up the Chinese economy because it is a Communist country. They have run away from the U.S. because of our Constitution, but if we don't change our debt-based monetary system (get rid of the Federal Reserve Bank and start printing our own money) then we will fall to them next. We are at the mercy of the Global Banking System (i.e. The World Bank and the IMF).

The sweatshop and cheap cost is not an answer, because sweatshops and cheap costs exist in most parts of the world. Africa, India, Philipines, Vietnam, etc. Despite the common misunderstanding that the west is a democracy, the west is actually a dictatorship, and it is through aggression that the west controls most of the resources. By the west, I mean USA, Canada, Europe, Australia. With the western dictatorship established, it is western oligarchs who decides who makes what. They decide what % of electronics south Korea, Japan, and the Taiwan regime gets to make. The Taiwan regime, for example, is rewarded by being allowed to dominate the motherboard industry. Now, the main reason things are made in China is because there is an agreement between the western oligarchs and China. The deal is, China gets the manufacturing contracts under these conditions- China must buy x number of western goods. For example, China must buy so many BMW's, Buick, Chevy, Land Rover, KFC, Iphones, Starbucks coffee, LV hand bags, Gucci, Adidas, Nike shoes, etc. This way, all of the money China makes from manufacturing will go straight back into the pockets of wealthy westerners, ensuring that the western oligarchs will stay rich, which is all the oligarchs really care about. The second part of the deal is that China must lend the money they make, right back to the western regimes. This is how western regimes are kept alive, through money borrowed from China. The third condition is that China must abandon all of its political ideology, ie anything leftist. The west frequently does this. Before getting contracts, you must submit to political terms, and conditions. For example, China must not bad mouth the west in their media, and carry on the myth that the west is superior. This is why if you look at the Chinese media, usually what you hear about the west is positive. They are not allowed to make the west look bad under the current conditions set. Yes, there are exceptions, however, this is rare. There are many more reasons why things are made in China, but these are some of the more important reasons. As you can see, allowing China to make things is a win win situation for the western oligarchs. Of course, it also helps that Chinese labour is inexpensive. Manufacturing doesn't have so much to do with climate or space. You can set up factories in America, Africa, or Asia. It doesn't matter.

Nam has the answer... because the government decided it. That's how it works in China.

Because the gorvernment wanted to switch from rice to manufacturing.

Because, otherwise, the Dollar Store would have to change its name to the Two Dollar Store.

They use a lot of prison labor. They pay their prisoners nothing and are able to compete globally with products

Environment wise? I already know about the sweatshops and cheap costs, but in terms of pollution and the Chinese climate or space (geographically) why are most things made in China?

Because they never signed up for Kyoto.

Because they don't have the EPA.

Because they know AGW is a scam.

Because they don't listen to Al Gore or George Soros.

Because Clinton gave them our technology.

Because they don't have OSHA.

Try this i really hope that it can help you......
