In no way could such a missuse of a new science be a good thing for polar bears which incidentaly if modified would not be a polar bear but a gm polar bear... with a copyright most probably

Kano is right, Polar Bears did survive the Eemian period. They split form grizzlies about 200,000 years ago. They also survived the Holocene Optimum 6 to 8 thousand years ago. Humans shouldn't try to get in the business of genetically modifying animals. It is done naturally in a way that is more effective than we could do. Maybe in a million years if we are still around we can try stuff like that. Until then, it is a bad idea.
The first thing you need to understand is that there is no global warming. For instance last winter 2012 - 2013 there was over 780,000 more square miles of ocean ice in the winter than in the previous winter 2011 - 2012. We are actually having a small ice age which was predicted over twenty years ago. And the Mini Ice Age is starting and will last for only 50 - 100 years so this just means that every one will get a little cooler but nothing to worry about. But your global warming didn't freeze an additional million square miles of ice the mini ice age did.

I can guess, and would indeed bet, that
a) Someone, some day, will seriously propose to try
b) There will be a heated debate as to whether it is ethical to even try
c) By then many, if not most, intelligent people will thoroughly condemn OUR generation for our failure to take the common sense actiond that might have prevented the question from arising.

They have found fossils of polar bears from the Eemian period, a time on earth when it was much hotter than now, polar bears do fine, as long as they are not being hunted by man.

Yes, polar bears did survive the Eemian and Holocene maxima. But they don't live in Hawaii. If it gets warm enough, they will be gone.
