Is Mauna Loa's CO2 measuring device malfunctioning or is CO2 going down for some reason?

There is no malfunction.

you just found out that the planet has a cycle of CO2:

"Each spring, when the Northern Hemisphere's vegetation awakens from the dormancy of winter and begins to grow again, it removes enough carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to reduce the air's CO2 content by several parts per million. Then, in the fall, when much of this vegetation dies and decays, it releases huge quantities of carbon dioxide back to the atmosphere, raising the air's CO2 content by a small amount. Together, these two phenomena produce a seasonal oscillation that is superimposed upon the yearly incremental rise in the air's mean CO2 concentration"

This is on top of a long term trend UP.

Nice cherry picking. No, CO2 is not going down. If you look at 5 or 50 years, from the same site, it's pretty obvious. And, just as obviously, not what you want to admit.

It looks OK to me.

It does vary seasonally and also on a daily basis. When the plants "wake up" the CO2 starts going down. When it goes dark the CO2 recovers.

So basically, the CO2 curve from Mauna Loa keeps wiggling upwards.

Is it measured anywhere else on such a regular basis? I ask because it is measured on top of a volcano, surrounded by volcanos and on the one next door, with the telescopes, they clean some of the mirrors by blowing neat CO2 over them!

I always find a direct measurement to be much more convincing than one that needs to be corrected and especially where that correction is large in comparison to the reading.

NO it is 396 right now and a month or so ago it was 393 it goes up in the fall and winter because of the increase used for heating and goes down a little in spring and summer so it may hit 400 again by march

CO2 is an annual cycle. It will go down regularly, as can be seen by looking at a longer term chart.

We were all told that the level was 400 ppm. Not that it momentarily 'reached' 400 ppm. Even Al Gore said so. I didn't see any 'scientists' on this site disagreeing with him.

But let them have their fun. Even though they claim that it is 400 that does not deny the fact that the Earth's temperature is going down.

And all these highly paid degreed 'scientists' have been proven wrong by none other than Mother Earth herself.

So as Trevor says, "CO2 trending up."

CRU says, "Temperature trending down for the last ten years or more."

Chew on that!

You’re going to have to explain why you think it’s going down.

Maybe there were different values when you looked at the page but when I looked everything shows an upward trend.

The Dow Jones index is much higher today than 30 years ago, but that doesn't mean it hasn't had some dips along the way.

As others said, it shows all up so we cannot understand why you asked the question. Can you explain better what it is that you noticed?

It goes up and down with the seasons, but the up is bigger than the down each year.
