Global warming why are you worried?

Actually you are right.

I find this questions becoming more and more detached from reality. hgyth

The EPA 'worry' about a wide range of things, we certainly hear other deniers whine about them here often enough, they do monitor many things and have over the years taken action on many chemicals that had been used in food.

If you want to see what life without the EPA might be like take a trip to Beijing and take a deep breath, or try some of the food that has been found to have poison in it or the children's toys made with lead paint.

As for the EPA CO2/climate change is just one of many tasks they do in the public good.

As for your claimed stats

Heart disease was leading cause of death in the 1930's just as it is today, so the claim it was rare is nonsense.

http://www.ibtimes.com/1940-census-cause...

300,000 then and 600,000 now, it was not rare in the 30's at all, as usual you are simply making up stories and offering nothing to support them, because you have nothing to support them.

Cancer is also not new and was a leading player in deaths in the 1930's as well, today numbers have spiked because breakthroughs in heart disease treatment mean people are not dying of that in their mid 60's but living into their 80's an age when a much higher percentage of people will develop some form of cancer.

Another leading cause of death in the 30's was pneumonia the rate of death due to that has dropped by more than 75% and until quite recently TB was also down.

Cancer rates have gone up, but cancer was the No. 2 cause of death in the 1930's as it is today.

>>Your EPA worries about CO2 but doesn't bother to check out the huge number of chemicals that is put in your food,<<

You Goddamn hypocrite. It is the right-wing conservative war against human health and safety regulations that is mostly responsible. Your very question is an attempt to further a political agenda that devalues human life and health - including deregulation of chemical toxins in our food, water, and air.

There is nothing - unfortunately - that prevents you from lying and spreading your ignorance about global warming here - but this question is clearly nothing but a radical political rant that has nothing to do with global warming and which you should at least have the decency to ask in another section of Y!A. .

That's a non-sequitor. Just because there are numerous risks in life it doesn't mean we shouldn't take steps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

However:

The 3rd leading cause of death in the US is chronic lower respiratory disease: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/lcod.htm

There are numerous reasons why we are seeing an increase in cancer rates, including improved detection/diagnosis and the fact we are living longer. It is not as simplistic as you make it out to be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epidemiolog...

Everything is chemical - everything. Toxicity is about dose, rather than exposure. It is very unlikely you can receive a toxic dose of any chemical by eating food under normal circumstances. In any case, the FDA (and other international Authorities do bother to check whats in our food).

It sounds like you are parroting the fear mongering and pseudoscience used by quacks to sell dodgy detox products, "natural" remedies and useless supplements.

It is not an excuse to continue pumping greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere and ruining the environment for future generations. The website you link to, by the way, states "Climate change and human induced global warming are the most critical environmental issues of 21st century."

The EPA is the US Environmental Protection Agency. The FDA is the Food and Drug Administration.

Perhaps you need to get your groups straight before claiming that the EPA does not do something it does not even deal with.

What does worry have to do with science?

Because I care about the future of my daughter and future grandchildren

If agw is not important why do you bother people in this YA section?

In the USA one in three of you people are going to die of cancer (cancer rates are skyrocketting, although not cancer deaths) Cardiac disease is no.1 killer whereas back in the thirties and forties it was rare, Number 3 killer is medical error, yep thats right it is safer walking on busy roads and streets than being treated in hospital.

Yet you worry about climate change, how come?

Your EPA worries about CO2 but doesn't bother to check out the huge number of chemicals that is put in your food,
