Will global warming cause snowfall to be a rare event?

Jeff M, this article written by ‘The Independent” dated March 20, 2000. So you can look it up yourself I am providing you with a link.

Notice that it states, “However, the warming is so far manifesting itself more in winters which are less cold than in much hotter summers. According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".

"Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said.

The word ‘few’ means not many according to ‘dictionary.com’ and so you can be sure that Davy didn’t mean a decade or more. So it has been more than a few and several articles that I looked up all verified the quote. None of which limited it to the UK. It did refer to the UK in other sentences but not in that portion of the quote. The reason I gave you this particular link, it shows that Davy’s predictions have been proven worthless and there also are some interesting comments underneath. You greenies are not fooling anyone of importance. Your greenie speak is catching up with you.

When you get caught your first line of defense is ‘they didn’t say that’. Davy’s intentions were quite clear to the intelligent ones.

In answer to your question: It hasn't so far. Just another greenie piece of propaganda proven wrong. Ha! Ha! When will they ever learn?

Maybe. My prediction is that New York will be under water and polar bears will only be seen in zoos before it is. But, regarding the quote by Dr. David Viner, does anyone have a link to the actual time frame for when winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”?

Liberals have notoriously short memories. You cannot expect them to remember or even acknowledge what a climate reseacher said 14 years ago.

Edit: The quote is from an article talking about the UK specifically. There is no question of context if you read the whole article.

It just goes to show you that inconsistencies just don't matter to those following a dogma rather than a science.

From the original article: "...warmer winters - which scientists are attributing to global climate change - produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries." http://www.independent.co.uk/environment...

From the article, and Jeff M's sharp criticism, let's assume they are talking about Great Britain. The UK has had increasingly brutal winters including excessive snowfall recently. Those predictions and comments from that article were about as far off the mark as one can be.

Perhaps they should have stated: Children aren't going to know what cars look like" http://truthfrequencyradio.com/wp-conten...

Let's look at the past decade of winters in the UK:

2003/4: "Fairly good in terms of snowfall, in comparison to many recent Winters anyway."

2004/5: "Generally below average snow across the country,"

2005/6: "This winter was widely close to average snow-wise."

2006/7: "A largely snowless winter, with persistent westerly winds,"

2007/8: "Another mild, largely snowless winter, but followed by some noteworthy wintry spells in early to mid spring."

2008/9: "The Winter of 2008/9 bought a mixed bag but overall was cooler than average with some notably cold spells."

2009/10: "The cold theme then carried through into February and although it was often cold and frosty initially, later in the month bought some major falls of snow"

2010/11: "December 2010 will go down as an infamous winter month in the UK"

2011/12: "Snow forces Heathrow to cancel half of flights" http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2012/feb/0...

2012/2013: "Snow blanketed most of Great Britain in late January 2013" http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Natural...

Edit@Jeff M: "Perhaps you should point out the area of the world which he was talking about and put the quote more into context. Otherwise, what you are doing once again, is attempting to manipulate others into believing untruths."

What "untruth" are you talking about?

Perhaps you should point out the area of the world which he was talking about and put the quote more into context. Otherwise, what you are doing once again, is attempting to manipulate others into believing untruths.

Ruben suggests global warming can go either way. Do you ever wonder if alarmists listen to themselves? 14 years ago it wasn't going either way. It was going to warm and then something funny happened. It stopped warming so to keep Ruben on board, all they had to do is say the warming also includes cooling.

No, not overall. But in some places, yes, 100 years from now.

Global warming can go either way. Not just warming.

In 2000, Dr. David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, stated that within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”, “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,”.

Do you agree with the famed climatologist Dr. David Viner that the end of snow fall in winter is here?
