Montreal is not really near large expanses of water, okay so you have the St Lawrence seaway, and lake Ontario, which could give lake effect snow in winter, and hot humid conditions in summer, but basically you have a northern latitude continental climate, hot in summer and cold in winter.

No, because it's not near water, and is one of the coldest cities in North America.

it is not close to lake ontario. most of the heavy moisture originates from the gulf of mexico. when this clashes with cold north air, a lot of snow is produced.

It gets very humid there. But that could be from the Great Lakes.
