Global warming = socialist scare campaign

The concept of man-made global warming was really started by Margaret Thatcher of England who wanted to break the back of the coal miners. This progressed to what is now known as the Inter Government Panel on Climate Change. It produced a very damning report with dire consequences for mankind unless anthropogenic or man-made emissions, largely carbon dioxide was not curbed. A whole array of scientists joined to study and to frame conclusions but it became clear that some of the science had been fudged or the data falsified. There were major omissions such as the 'medeiaval warming period' and the 'little ice age' were not properly taken into account. Computer models showing doom and gloom were found to have been falsely programmed - as in garbage in/garbage out. There were serious scientific omissions such as the role of water vapor as a greenhouse gas and solar flares. In short, numerous scientists disassociated themselves with the IPCC and renounced the validity of its science. The East Anglia saga added yet another black eye to the IPCC and the whole issue of the relevance of global or 'climate change'. Recently NASA-GIS, initially a big player admitted that the data was false and carbon dioxide is indeed good for global warming (plants really like the stuff as they pump it in greenhouses). So, in short, as there is a lot of money to be made by taxing carbon emissions, it's still a hot issue but it has proven to be a total embarrassment in so many senses. Is there any global warming. The simple answer is NO! We have been cooling since 1998. The warmest period ever recorded in the USA was between 1934-1936. The Antarctic ice is far from melting, in fact it is getting thicker as is the Arctic ice sheet. Polars are just doing fine and they are off the protected species list - hunters from the USA still go up to Canada to bad a 'polar bear' (big tough guys). It's getting cooler and snow is certainly not a thing of the past.

The embarrassing fact is the ice caps have grown by 60% in one year. Not shrivelled as predicted by global warming theorists.

No doubt of warming, equally no doubt of cooling. You just vary your reference point to produce the proof that you want. Keeping your fingers crossed behind your back of course. The big trick is to ignore loads of CO2 but no recent warming to match the period. Rain and Ice caps have happened loads of times before as most of us accept.

This is not rocket science, or climate science, wake up and smell the politics.

Global warming is one of the predicted results of increased greenhouse gas concentrations. It's like if you were to put double glazing in the windows or thicker insulation in the walls of your house, but kept the heating on at the same level, it would get warmer. On the most basic level, it really is that simple. On Earth, the sun is our source of heat and infrared radiation pssing through the atmosphere is the way heat is lost. A greater amount of carbon dioxide reduces the heat loss, causing the temperature to rise.

The effects are very unliikely to be confined to global warming. There will be effects on rainfall, winds and temperatures in different regions as well, but these are harder to predict. Sea level rise appears predictable, too on the current evidence.

As a result of the scientific research that has been carried out, more and more subtle natural influences on all aspects of the climate are being better understood by scientists. Many knock-on effects to human influences, by means of CO2, other gases and a variety of other factors have also been identified.

Despite many attempts by scientists who are respected in the field, such as Dr Lindzen, to identify processes which may negate the effects of human influence, the basic conclusion and the process responsible for it (the greenhouse effect) have remained unchanged for decades now.

Sceptics/denialists/contrarians/propaga... make a lot of noise, especially on the internet, but the fact is that no contrary scientifc theory (that the climatic effects of anthropogenic greenhouse gases will be negated by other physical processes or that the greenhouse effect is somehow a flawed theory) is favoured by the existing evidence.

This still leaves room for some to claim that an undiminished greenhouse effect is rendered insignificant by climatic changes instigated by natural processes. This is often pretty close to saying that the consequences of climate change 'don't matter', or don't matter as much as the inalienable rights of individuals to burn as much fuel as they want. However, no natural processes have been found to account for the observed temperature changes of the last century and, with the exception of extremely rare catacysms and the ice ages of tens of millennia, no natural sources of temperature change over decades and centuries of comparable magnitude globally have been identified.

No. We have "warmed" half a degree in 150 years. Considering who is in charge of the data and how many times they've been caught fudging data I wonder if it has warmed at all.

well from a commercial viewpoint and everything is now it's going to cost too much to clean up so

like everything else that is uneconomical it's under the carpet with it the Romans with all their brutality at least left a legacy for future generations we appear to be leaving a thorough mess
