Do you know any group of people as hypocritical as global warming alarmists?

As far as being hypocritical, I know of no subject where hypocrisy reigns as supreme as it does in Climate Change and Global Warming.

They even come out and proclaim their hypocrisy.

Quote by Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official: "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy...Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."

And they are proud of the fact that they lie.

Quote by Al Gore, former U.S. vice president, and large CO2 producer: "I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis."

And yet they won't give up their luxurious life style as you have alluded to.

Quote by Maurice Strong, a wealthy elitist and primary power behind UN throne, and large CO2 producer: "Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class - involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, air-conditioning, and suburban housing - are not sustainable."

You see it is the 'middle class' who must give up. Not the elites. Heaven forbid that that Al Gore would have to give up his mansions or Maurice give up his private jet.

But nothing is as hypocritical as calling it science, when it is truly politics.

Quote by Christine Stewart, former Canadian Environment Minister: “No matter if the science is all phony, there are collateral environmental benefits.... climate change [provides] the greatest chance to bring about justice and equality in the world.”

Let's say Al Gore has the carbon footprint of 50 average Americans. I'm not sure if that's true, but I think that's the reason you're calling him hypocritical--because he travels around a lot in airplanes, etc. At every speech that he gives, there may be 500 people in the audience. He gets on the news a lot too, and he did have a book and movie that were widely seen and read. He certainly has raised the world consciousness on the issue of global warming, and it wouldn't surprise me if his actions have resulted in millions of people reducing their carbon footprint.

The same thing with James Hansen. He is one of the people that's been talking about this problem the longest. Whatever lifestyle he has lived (and I can't imagine him having yachts, etc.) to make people aware of the problem is offset many times over by the reductions of the people that have heard his message.

And I can think of all sorts of groups that are more hypocritical. What about all the self-identified Christians that lie, steal and kill around the world? None of those are Christian values and yet they do those things all the time.

The world is filled with hypocrisy, but at least those people that you mention are trying to bring about some good. I don't think that's true of the deniers in this group, I think improving the world is the farthest thing from their minds.

I suppose some folks are 'hypocrites', but that doesn't make the very real problem of rapid climate change any less real. If Al Gore didn't exist the climactic conditions, particularly in the northern hemisphere would continue to show significant change. The data is clear, so clear that the United States Navy has already factored climate change into its war fighting plans for the rest of this century. In fact ALL the world's militaries that operate above 55 degrees north latitude have factor in this change. So have most insurance companies, ocean shipping companies, agriculture concerns and the airlines. No Al Gore required.

No. Gore uses at least 10 times as much energy as average. He has made many millions from carbon credits. Others don't like fossil fuels or just go along with what the experts say. 30 years ago they were claiming New York City would be under water by now.

The American Democratic Party, but they include many global warming alarmists, so...

I'd say the demorats with their herr leader king putt are real real close, maybe a tie

They want to make the little people stay in poverty so that they can enjoy a nice lifestyle.

Oh, so you admit one jet makes a difference!

I never heard that they own cruise ships and yachts.

what i think is: the conservative movement is the most destructive organization ever to exist on earth.

It causes tribal thinking and complete madness

We should use their bodies for medical experiments and let all the bunnies and chimps and white mice go free

Since you are Canadian, how about the Harper government who has a history of muzzling scientist [1] and even went as far as dismissing the chair of the CNSC the night before she was to appear before a parliamentary committee on nuclear safety. [2] They can not even fulfill their OWN half hearted commitments on reducing CO2 [3]

I do not, and I believe that it would be extremely difficult to find one that comes close.

Many prominent global warming alarmists (Al Gore, Michael Mann, James Hansen, Leonardo Dicaprio) all preach about reducing carbon footprints all while travelling around the world in jets, cruise ships and yachts.

I think most alarmists have an inflated self worth and honestly think that they are far too important to be bothered reducing THEIR carbon footprint.

What do you think? Do you know of any other group as hypocritical as global warming alarmists?
