A myth at hand, that renewable energy STOPS or PREVENTS global warming. First it does not prevent it because it is already happening, as indicated by rising sea levels with no retreat. Second it cannot STOP global warming unless all sources of net greenhouse gas release on Earth is eliminated, like methane from cattle ranching be scaled down by limiting cattle farming.
The bottom line is that renewable energy helps curb global warming - to reduce the rate of global warming, because it can replace the combustion of fossil fuels for energy. LESS fossil fuels are burnt, LESS carbon dioxide is added on a yearly basis to the atmosphere, and global warming SLOWS.

Renewable energy that does not add climate change gases to the atmosphere means less fossil fuels are being burning. It reduces the amount of climate-changing gases.
If all energy came from renewable sources, and fossil fuels were no longer burned, then the changes in the climate would slow or stop where it is.
