two different meanings of the word global warming:
1) The natural greenhouse effect in the atmosphere that has made life possible on earth for billions of years. (HOW warm the atmosphere is varies naturally in slow cycles taking thousands or millions of years.)
2) Human-caused INCREASE in that greenhouse effect. (This is causing measurable change in the average global temperature on a scale of decades and centuries.)
Normally, "global warming" has the second meaning, but some anti-science liars here will try to trick people by mixing up the two.
In BOTH cases, the greenhouse effect is caused by greenhouse gases, the most important of which is carbon dioxide. (Water vapor is more abundant than carbon dioxide but acts only as a magnifying effect).
The SECOND case is the same as the first, except that the changes in carbon dioxide (and other greenhouse gases), in recent decades, have been mostly human-caused.
The change in the global average temperature is the main factor shaping the earth's average climate.
The science is extremely clear on this. No credible scientist with anything to do with climate, who isn't lying, will dispute this. There is lots of dispute on important details, such as how fast global warming will occur in the future and how heavily the resulting climate changes will be and how much that will affect the global ecosystem, but not about the basic reality that humankind is altering the global climate in drastic ways. The anti-science liars here deny that basic scientific reality. These con artists and troublemakers often try to confuse and trick people by pretending that some aspect of the legitimate, ongoing debates over the details somehow mean the basic conclusions are also debated among scientists. Global warming is caused by many things such as CO2 pollution in the atmosphere. The gas can come from factories and cars. For example China has many factories and the steam that the factories let out causes pollution. Cars pump out gas from the rear end and that contributes on global warming. The pollution gets stuck in the atmosphere. The amount of things we do to harm the planet is melting ice caps and makes it melt faster ans faster.

Really? Have you been living under a rock? It's a combination of the amount of CO2 and toxins we pump into our environment. Before, we used to not have so many cars, but now that people in China are all allowed to own vehicles, it's exploded with the amount of pollution. Booming countries like China need energy because they're gobbling it up for manufacturing and just powering their nation, so they really love coal right now but are getting into natural gas. The amount we spend to ship these resources give off fumes.
We're pumping so much into the air that it's warming everything up and ice caps are melting at faster rates. We are seeing shorter, more extreme weathers (winter and summer).
For anyone who says this is a part of the natural cycle, it's not. Any chart will show that the correction is nowhere in sight.
There is no specific WHAT cause global warming rather what can we do to stop it is more important. BUT
To sum it all up, YES C02 pollution. But specifically there are thousands of things that add to global warming,
build up of green house gasses trapping in heat and keeping the earth warmer. aerosol cans, cars, trucks, smog, from them, factories, dumping, gasses, nukes, trash, and the list goes on and on, and they all add up to nasty stuff in the air and eating at our ozone layer.
The sun causes global warming and global cooling. Funny how AGW cultists don't even acknowledge that the sun heats the earth up.
