How can so many people not believe in climate change?

For the SAME Reason why People expect Bad things to ALWAYs "Happen" to Somebody- Somewhere ELSE ; They're not Smart enough to "Know Better..."- until it's TOO Late . :(

I believe majority of us know about this. It is just that some people don't care about it and some are so into it. That's the difference. For those who care, maybe we'll just do our share at least by starting things right in the house like recycle and proper waste and chemical disposal. This alone is a great help to our environment.

The particular local weather will adjust in excess of many years, decades or millennia, yet local weather adjust isn't just because of man intervention.

Because MAN MADE Climate Change destroys all Life, since Global Warming is over with and nature is in full control. Climate Change would destroy nature that keeps outer space out and separates all non solids that rise towards the ozone. Mike

If I was an oil magnate, I'd plug a lot of spare change into politics that supported my bottom line. . .

People have a tendency to believe what they want to believe, read what fits, and not to question false ideas that fit their prejudices.

The climate does change over decades, centuries or millennia, but climate change isn't necessarily because of human intervention.

There is an awful lot of alarmist snake-oil being sold out there, especially by the far left Liberals. We have in fact been emerging from an Ice age for the last 7000 years. That being the case we may accurately assume we will experience climate warming, They taught us about our past ice age back in grade school, before electricity (or was it Independence?). If in fact we are emerging from that ice age that means (ignoring for the moment all the armloads of scientific printouts, gigabytes of datasets and screams of alarm by the ignorant) we are in fact warming and have been for quite a while deviations in climate history charts due to Sunspots and solar flares notwithstanding. We had the "Little Ice age" due to thermohaline ocean current anomalies in the 1300-1700 era, a function of desalinization due to glacial melting due to this long term natural "warming," The rules get murky.

The Vostok Co2 ice core analyses and subsequent Tschumi-Stauffer climate studies show clearly we have cold hot cycles and their accompanying Co2 variations on 100,000 year intervals. Milankovich elliptical orbit effects are for the most part causing these Hot/Cold cycles creating significant variations in our distance from the sun. The integration of sunspot and solar flare contribution to climate change just adds more humps and bumps to the graphs and more snakes to the prediction barrel. Providing a climate OVERVIEW reaching back over 6 millions years tells the real story, but we are now faced with arguments based on data going back less than 7,000 years, the Gore fraud, obscuring the long term picture exposed by old accepted scientific climate history.

How can man have such a profound effect on the climate in only the past 200 years when normal climate cycles established 6 Million years ago are proceeding as scientifically predicted, the projected temperatures and Co2 values in the mean? A million or so years ago Co2 content was over 1200 Ppm compared to the 370 or so Ppm today, and back then the planet flourished. That man may be contributing to climate change is obvious, but the EXTENT to which he is contributing is most assuredly in question. No one to date has been able to address that issue with any degree of scientific certainty, just a lot of unfounded opinion and fear mongering. Several mainstream scientific sources set the percentage of mans contribution to global greenhouse gas at less than 3%, casting some pretty serious doubts that any changes we make in our energy usage will cause any major change in existing Climate conditions.

Also recent (independent) scientific studies have disclosed that Co2 level does not drive atmospheric temperature, it is in fact the other way around. Our brilliant Liberal futurists would have us reduce our contribution to greenhouse gas at least a percentage point, starving over half the world's populations.

I don't think that they necessasarily don't believe in it. I just don't think they really care. It's sad but true. Most people have the mindset if it won't happen in my lifetime then I don't care.

you are a sheep..... next year you will be an older sheep

J.A. climate change is not a simple thing, whether it is real or not is besides the point, what can we do about it, to reduce CO2 emssions to a reasonable level globally would mean replacing carbon emitting power stations at the rate of one large nuclear power station coming on line everyday, okay you dont like nuclear well then 150.000 windmills ( I dont know the exact figure but thats about right) per day, and that is just to maintain our energy levels as they are now, with the rest of the world not have the energy we have, if we let them come up to our level, then that requires 5 large nuclear station each and everyday.

Watch this video it is long but it really shows what we are up against http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...

I mean do they only listen to lobbyist on cable news networks? Have these people not read any scientific study? Why would anyone listen to someone on TV or the radio that is not a professional scientists?

The 1% of the global energy budget (96% of CO2 emissions are from natural sources, only 4% is man-made) controlled by CO2 cannot control the other 99%. We can't "wag the dog" by its tail!!!

There really is no doubt about it. CO2 concentration cannot have a significant effect on temperature, because otherwise, we already would have maxed out at some enormous level of CO2 and exceedingly high temperatures eons ago simply because of the positive feedback of warming temperatures accelerating the current output by natural sources.

Government agencies and International institutions that have worked tenaciously to vilify carbon dioxide (CO2) as a dangerous pollutant and have done a great public disservice. Contrary to what has been widely reported, CO2 is a key component to life on earth that should be beneficial to the environmental and humanity in particular.

It's called being able to think for one's self and not just blindly nod and accept every piece of obvious crap spoon fed to you by the govt and media.

They believe people are always trying to screw them financially and the costs of doing something about climate change would certainly do that without any assurances that anything we could do would work. In general, it's a respectable sentiment to suspect you'll be individually at the loosing end of addressing something like climate change.

probably because its false

you're talking about politics, not science...

the climate changes over time. everyone knows that...

For the republicans the Billionaire always eats first.... and the Billionaire says there's no climate change because he wants to go on polluting right down to the wire.

So an extremely successful campaign of misinformation has been waged by the republicans since the matter came up - all to serve their Billionaire more fully and completely.

Political conservatives think that the matter is subject to a vote.
