Which city probably has the most extreme climate?

Bismarck, North Dakota; Augusta, Maine; and Buffalo, New York.

Sage is right. I too lived in South Dakota. I remember ice fishing on the Missouri River when it was 40 below and I remember when it was a 112 Deg F. That 40 below was with a stiff wind too. It was good fishing too but I don't know how I managed to keep that live bait alive and hooked. They were shinner minnows. Great fishing but pretty darned cold. Bismark would be pretty close to South Dakota but a bit colder

Augusta, Maine would be colder but rarely that hot and Buffalo, New York would have the lake effect to moderate temps

I'd take Topeka Kansas, but if you have a finite list to choose from just define "extreme" and look up the climate for each.

Rome, New York which is close to buffalo.... Central/Upstate New York as a whole really. It will literally be snowing one day, and be 75 and Humid the next...

it's the only place that you can find a person wearing a winter coat, and shorts in the same day.

Out of the three I would have to say that Bismark would be the most extreme. I lived in South Dakota and it was extreme with over 100 degree temperatures in the summer and -30 in the winter. The northwestern wind really causes havoc.

Washington, DC. Where's the EPA to regulate the hot air that comes from that place?

Augusta, Maine has some ridiculously hot summers and equally frigid winters with snow and ice packed everywhere, but I wouldn't say it's the most extreme climate.

Bismark, ND
