Is Global Warming causing murderous insurgency terror groups to take over Iraq?

1. I am a liberal and an "AGW cultist" (as you would say) and I have never heard this before. And how would this be "sick and demented?

2. Who is blaming terrorism for what? (Besides terrorist stuff like killing people) This article seems to be blaming climate change for influencing ISIS, not the other way around.

3. Also, I might point out that it was Bush who lied to the american people to get us involved with Iraq in the first place.

4. What climate change foreign police failures are you speaking of? And what do they have to do with this subject?

Ha! Ha! Just look at Trevor, "We know that in hot conditions people are more prone to violence, this is an established fact; acts of violence increase with temperature and hence there’s more riots, civil unrest etc in summer than in winter."

Would someone out there inform this 'top scientist' the difference between weather and Climate Change? Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Actually according to Trevor's formula the violence should be ebbing since the Earth has cooled for over a decade.

As to Darfur they were warring over that land long before Al Gore dreamed up GW.

Notice how Trevor types out of both sides of his keyboard. "I am not blaming GW but on the other hand GW is really the cause." As the US Indians used to say, "White man speak with forked tongue."

Peggy, "EDIT: I don't have a clue." For once I agree with you.

In answer to the question: This is the greenies way of flooding the masses with misconceptions. After all, some people are ignorant enough to believe it and they vote.

Quote by Paul Watson, a founder of Greenpeace: "It doesn't matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true."

Reading comprehension really seems to be a weakness among Deniers – and that is certainly more a genetic problem that has nothing to do with global warming.

Not surprisingly, the article bears little resemblance to your childish understanding. Deniers at least are consistent in their commitment and devotion to stupidity – their scientific illiteracy is just one example of their excellence in general ignorance.

If you knew anything about American history, you would know that there are real reasons for making an association between water and violence. And, I’m sure it is safe to assume your ignorance includes the Defense Intelligence Agency’s report “Global Water Security” determination:

“Our Bottom Line: During the next 10 years, many countries important to the United States will

experience water problems—shortages, poor water quality, or floods—that will risk instability and

state failure, increase regional tensions, and distract them from working with the United States on

important US policy objectives. Between now and 2040, fresh water availability will not keep up

with demand absent more effective management of water resources. Water problems will hinder

the ability of key countries to produce food and generate energy, posing a risk to global food

markets and hobbling economic growth. As a result of demographic and economic development

pressures, North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia will face major challenges coping with

water problems.”

But, you just keep being stupid - it's what you do best.

NO. In my opinion, since Global Warming ended in 2012, confirmed 11/28/2012. Global Warming was caused by An invading ALIEN and because of their highly developed intelligence. I believe they can send signals to humans to believe in the wrong thing, because their main purpose was to destroy as many species as they could for their incoming species, but what they dont know is their species have been wiped out by Haley's Comet in deep space, dubbed THE BIG BANG 13 years from earth. Mike

Obama's foreign policy failure? Cheney knew invading Iraq would lead to it being FUBAR. Only complete idiots thought the USA would be greeted as liberators. This is a Bush **** up plain and simple. Don't blame Obama, don't blame climate change, blame Bush and his cronies for lying about the reason for going to war in the first place and not knowing a lick about different Muslim factions.

"Duhhhh... Sunni, Shiites, Kurds... they're all the same right....duhhhhhhhh!!!!!!"

Boutros Boutros Ghali tried to blame the genocide in Africa on global warming too. Then the climate alarmists turned around and used his statement to declare it a fact that cannot be argued. They will do anything to politicize the issue.

Actually the alarmists should be happy with the outcome, as it is leading to higher oil prices which is their goal.

The U.S. Military predicted this 8 years ago. The Military's report specifically predicted that water shortages in the Middle East will destabilize governments.

You may think it is funny. You are as sick as you are uninformed. This is not some liberal group. This is people who risk their lives for your right to be thoughtless.

Not everything is related to everything else. But as the middle east dries up you can bet that there will be another several sides to this situation.

The 21st century water wars are coming.

No, but seems to have affected your ability to think independently of Media Matters.

Are AGW cultists really this sick and demented? The now need to blame terrorism (even though Obama saw to it the leader of ISIS was released from Gitmo) and Obama's foreign policy failures on global warming?

We know that in hot conditions people are more prone to violence, this is an established fact; acts of violence increase with temperature and hence there’s more riots, civil unrest etc in summer than in winter.

No-one is claiming that global warming caused the tensions in Iraq, but what we do know is that when temperatures rise the violence also escalates. Of course, the temperature fluctuates from day to day and it changes with the seasons, the levels of violence should track the changing weather.

If global warming creates additional warming then we would expect to see a corresponding increase in the levels of violence.

There is the additional consequence of land lost to drought and desertification and the rivalries this can cause. In Darfur the conflict initially started over tribal rivalries but years of drought have seen large areas of agricultural land being lost and today people are fighting to gain control of the remaining viable land. Whilst global warming can’t be identified as the cause of this particular drought, it is part of an established trend that’s happening in many places around the world.

These acts of war and terrorism are going to happen regardless, global warming doesn’t cause them but it makes conditions more conducive to acts of violence. With temperatures in the region having risen by between 1°C and 2°C then clearly there will be more violence.

Climate realist is right just because thier conclusions about reality are ignorant doesn't mean everything they think is ignorant.

The Climatistas are an utter embarrassment.

Add it to the Warmlist.

It's a lot more complicated than one cause

Another denialist straw man argument.

oh lord

No, but they do have similarities with many of the people in the U.S. that deny it--they are both religious fundamentalists.

EDIT: I don't have a clue what your point is with "Update 2". It seems completely unrelated to my answer.
