Do you think this year will be another bad year for natural disasters?

I believe it may but who knows. Drought and heat waves and flooding for sure hard to say about the bigger storms

Ian I believe the questioner is talking about 2013 not looking for a history lesson

When Natural disasters impact peoples lives it's always bad and as populations continue to grow the impact they have on human life will increase. The better a civilization is at mitigating the impact the more likely they are to survive.

Rolando - You don't have to be good at guessing you simply need to be ambiguous and vague enough so later you can say that you warned people this would happen. Additional weight can be added to your prediction if you claim you are a climate scientist and claim that people who disagree with your conclusions don't believe in evolution, gravity and still think the world is flat. Also don't forget to inform your audience that what happened in the past does not mean that what is happening now isn't caused by man. The asker wants to know if it's going to be bad which is subjective and if you were a good warmon you'd take this opportunity to reiterate the hazzards that come with man induced global warming. People don't remember natural disasters unless they live through them or spend their lives studying them, so use words like more frequent and more severe, unprecedented is also a good one to use.

I think we will have 25 named storms across the globe.

If I was better at guessing then the average person, I could be making a fortune in the insurance industry.

I'm sorry, I can't help you with that, but the winning lottery ticket numbers will be; 6,12,14,23,27 and 16

You mean like it was in 1864 when a cyclone hit Calcutta and killed 60,000 people? Or like it was in 1874 when a cyclone killed 80,000 people in India?

Oh right. Alarmists think bad weather never occurred before 1970.

@Big Gryph...Oh, I thought he was trying to link weird weather to "Global Warming" since this is the Global Warming section. How silly of me. My bad.

There have been worse and there have been better. What can we do about it.
