What is a good undergraduate degree for someone that wants to solve climate change?

I have been thinking that I might want to have a career in solving this life-threatening problem; however, I do not know what undergraduate programs are good.

I'd major in one of the basic sciences: physics or chemistry. You can specialize later.

EDIT: Ignore Caliservative, he's just jealous because he never learned any science himself.

As Pegminer suggests, "basic sciences: physics or chemistry" would be appropriate fields of study, but don't go into them thinking that you are going to "solve" climate change. Rather, delve into 'understanding' the reasons why climate changes.

Climate study is in its infancy with much yet to learn. If you do decide to enter this area/discipline, go into it without any pre-conceived notions....assume that the so-called 'consensus' does not exist and that everyone on this board is wrong (pro or con Man's impact). Avoid 'Group-Think' and develope your own methodology/approach....challenge the veracity of basic data BEFORE you use it as the basis of your research (too many well-meaning scientists have not done so...trusting that their peers collected/interpretted basic data correctly/ethically).

Whether or not your findings show Man to 'catastrophically' impact the Earth's climate, be true to high ethical standards and understand that you may impact civilization more than you can imagine at this time.

Always be a skeptic in the truest sense.

Good luck in your endeavors!

Someone who wants to solve climate change should have undergraduate degree in the field of Forestry and Environmental Sciences. This degree will help someone to understand the nature, atmosphere and others things which relate with climate. Because climate change is the affect of many things which are responsible for climate change.

Climate change has many components to it. Many different small causes adding up. Therefore, there will be no one science that will solve it either. The solution will come from a combination of pure science, engineering, law and politics.

As Pegminer says, learn the physical sciences. Thermodynamics is very important in climatology, so take courses which are thermodynamics intensive.

Ignore the nonsense by denialists. Climatology is a real science.

You should not go into science if you do not like science itself. People should not go into science to help humanity.

If you like Carl Sagan, stay out of science.

I suggest you study something like journalism or public relations. (Is public relations even a major anywhere?)

Engine driver, as is the head of IPCC.

Government, as in Al Gore.

Meteorology.

Political science. as climate change is a political invention.

You need a degree in propaganda (not science). The closest available degree is likely to be in acting, or marketing.

architect is good choice.
