It's a little bit like a large boulder pushed off the top of a steep hill. It doesn't take much of a push to get going but once it builds momentum, it would be very difficult to stop. Now, if you are merely looking to avoid global warming, perhaps you can work on building a seawall a few feet high.

Or perhaps you can develop an energy source cheap enough that countries like China and India would use that instead of burning coal.

Nothing that the US, Canada, or the EU can do will avoid climate change even if it is man made because of the increase in green house gas production from China, Russia, India, and Brazil are now driving total green house gas emissions.

Also, considering that most if not all climate scientist models use wrong assumptions and they don't want to fix their models, why listen to them?

Your question is interesting but I suggest you do some sums first.

Find out what your "carbon footprint" is. I live in the UK and a simple approximation would be for me to divide the UK's carbon footprint by 60 million - the population. You can be more accurate if you like.

On that basis, if I reduced my footprint to zero I could probably extend the life of the world by about a seventh of a second.

4. Using renewable sources of Energy, this would reduce the consumption of Coal used for electricity production which produces a lot of smoke.

5. Using cleaner fuels in vehicles, this would reduce the Carbon Dioxide emission.

6. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -Do your part to reduce waste by choosing reusable products instead of disposables. Buying products with minimal packaging will help to reduce waste. And whenever you can, recycle paper, plastic, newspaper, glass and aluminum cans. By recycling half of your household waste, you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide annually.

7. Use Less Heat and Air Conditioning -Adding insulation to your walls and attic, and installing weather stripping or caulking around doors and windows can lower your heating costs more than 25 percent, by reducing the amount of energy you need to heat and cool your home.

Turn down the heat while you're sleeping at night or away during the day, and keep temperatures moderate at all times. Setting your thermostat just 2 degrees lower in winter and higher in summer could save about 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.

So you as an individual can adopt these steps to reduce global warming.
