Stratospheric ozone and surface temperature?

Posted at: 2015-03-12
Stratospheric ozone has both cooling and warming effect on earth surface. Why?

Could anyone explain please. Thanks.

We really don't know. We are researching the subject. However, this research is being stifled by agenda driven scientists who only want the truth if it benefits their agenda.

Stratospheric ozone absorbs some of the short-wave ultraviolet-B rays and all ultraviolet-C rays which would otherwise warm the surface.

These high energy rays break apart the O3 molecules, constituents of 'ozone', into one oxygen molecule O2 and one oxygen atom O.

However, stratospheric ozone is a greenhouse gas, and because it absorbs those powerful rays, this is why the stratosphere increases in temperature following the tropopause.

The ozone hole has a slight cooling effect, because more heat can escape from Earth's surface through it.

Well ozone reacts with solar radiation, and prevents some of it reaching earths surface, but it also heats up the stratosphere making heat released from earth more difficult, thats why I believe fluctuating UV levels can have a big effect on climate
