Lets make it simple. You fill you big car up with gasoline 20 or 30 gallons. How many people can P in your tank before you notice that the engine is screwing up? Or how many sugar cubes? Does not happen after one P or one cube, but a football team all has a leak in there or a whole box of sugar cube gets dumped into your world and you will notice. And you are broke so an engine overhaul is going to take a LONG time to happen IF they can even fix it.

Something is happening that covers the planet. You don't have another planet to go to to hide.
