Yes, we are due for an ice age. Global warming might prevent that.
What is commonly referred to as "the last ice age" is still going. Ice ages are the periods of time when ice is covering the planet's poles (as we have now with the Arctic and Antarctica). So, we are technically in an ice age right now.
As to whether the ice caps are going to expand to cover most of the planet? No. The ice caps are reducing due to global warming, the reason the UK's climate is varying is because global warming is disrupting the gulf stream. But in the long term, the UK is getting warmer (don't you recall stories of rivers like the Thames and the Tyne freezing over and fayres/fairs being held on them?).
Ice ages happened when snow builds up in the northern hemisphere, it takes cold winters and cold summers to cause one, if snow falls in the winter and doesn't thaw in the summer, albedo increases, the suns rays are reflected away from Earth, and it gets colder so more snow.
I believe we are in for a cooler period whether this could start a little ice age or a big one no-one knows.
Why the northern hemisphere? well the southern hemisphere is mainly ocean and not much place for snow to increase

not likely. with the concentration of greenhouse gases, no ice age has occurred in millions of years.
as for winters getting colder, please supply a source. This maybe a regional problem, not a global one.
I think Nature is going to show us things that will cause us to flee for sanctuary.
