CO2: it naturally exists in the air, and so it isn't one of the 6 Criteria Pollutants; however, since deforestation hinders the conversion of CO2 to O2 and hence it could affect the composition of the atmosphere for sure. With population going over 7 billion, it's inevitable that CO2 concentration would increase.
CH4: Methane is produced through agriculture, fossil fuel combustion, and even from landfills. It has 24 times the global warming potential compared to CO2, that it could greater increase the global temperature. Has it been increasing? Of course. It doesn't help that it causes a lot of unwanted reactions in the troposphere...
Well CO2 didn't rise a lot not even during the industrial revolution, however since the late 40's has increased from about 300ppm to the present 400ppm mainly through Mans emissions.
Methane CH4 has not altered that much and anyway CH4 is relatively short lived as it oxidizes.
However it is my belief that CO2 has little if any warming effect, our planet's climate is dominated by water vapour.
CO2 does NOT drive warming and the history of CO2 levels verses temperature shows this very clearly. There is however a correlation between CO2 levels and temperature BUT it is the opposite of what Al Gore and all of his Alarmists friends want you to believe.
The fact is, it is Temperature that drives CO2 levels --- Al Gore says the opposite and he is lying. CO2 is not a problem, it does NOT drive warming, only the Sun can do that.
