Can the US Government prevent ‘extreme weather’ with new regulations?

Sorry, but there is no credible, unmanipulated, scientific data that supports the notion of CO2 causing 'extreme weather'.....None!

California wildfires are caused by Arson, accidental ignition by Man and lightning.

Such fires are made worse because the environmentalists will not (until recently in a few locations) allow for control-burning and refuse to admit that naturally occurring forest/prairie fires are something that many regions of the planet have dealt with for perhaps millions of years.

Thunderstorm Sandy was a big deal because it happened on the East Coast, where Man has done an excellent job of cramming in structures and people. As a storm, it was rather uneventful in the grand scheme of things.

Colorado flooding?.........not the first time. And again, if you plant enough people and structures in one place....it is inevitable that they are going to get in the way of nature and much of the time....lose.

I mourn the loss of any life for any reason, but life does involve risks....Man-made and those we confront with nature.

Regulations will not impact the weather events you cite.

No and Henry Waxman is a idiot thinking Sandy was caused by climate change .

And its not a super storm . Worse hurricanes hit New York in the past.

Why do warmist think Obama created the World in 2008 and act like nothing happened before ?

No. Its not possible. No physical possibility that this has even the most minute chance to make a difference.

This is especially true as regulations in the US have ZERO impact on the rest of the world. Point in fact more regulations in the US have a high probability of making things worse globally as it will drive even more industry to nations with fewer or no regulations. Thus increasing net pollution instead of limiting it.

These are mearly one dimensional thinkers. One dimensional thinkers should NOT be allowed to draft or comment upon policy. The results of one dimensional thinking on larger scales are quite often devastating.

Let's consult the oracle:

What do they say in answer to: "FAQ 3.1 | Is the Climate Becoming More Extreme?"

The final paragraph of their 1000 word detailed and erudite exposition* starts: "None of the above instruments has yet been developed sufficiently as to allow us to confidently answer the question posed here."

I think that is a: "Don't know."

*prevarication

Unless the US is regulating China, India, and the rest of the world, then no.

US is about 15% of carbon emissions. China is 25%. India is closing in on 10%. The rest of the developing world is another 25%.

I am curious to know how CO2 causes extreme weather, when temperatures and atmospheric water vapor have not changed, what is the mechanism?

The US has already reduced it's CO2 emissions by a fall off in the economy and the greater use of natural gas, however it has had no effect on worldwide emissions, what do they think they can do?

Regulations don't directly effect extreme weather. However regulations which limit things like CO2 produced, specifically encourage alternative energy sources can limit the CO2, which eliminates worsening of GW, which in turn can help limit extreme weather. Much of our adverse weather relates to increased water evaporation due to evtra warming fueling GW

Nostril man thinks so. What a powerful man.

Wildfires in California, flooding in Colorado and devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy should be proof enough that the federal government needs to act, lawmakers said Tuesday.

“We spend billions of dollars to respond to each disaster and rebuild in the aftermath,” said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). “Unfortunately many members of Congress continue to deny that climate change is even happening.”
