In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like, would fit the bill.
In their totality and their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these dangers as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes.

Not exactly how Sagebrush quoted it. It's not difficult to interpret - here are problems which can unite people, yet the actual quote advises not to FIGHT these problems and find a solution, but rather work towards the solutions. It doesn't even say they created the problems!
However, I do have to admit that simple population doesn't have the biggest impact. Nor does lifestyle in itself, but simple consumer choices and production methods. Although if your lifestyle as a human is to buy as much as you can and deliberately only seek the most destructive goods and services constantly, then it's safe to say YOUR lifestyle is a problem.
Indeed, out of most conferences have come disappointments by those who had hopes for Governments, but on the upside they have lead many businesses to find ways to produce in better ways. I know in Australia we had kind of an odd situation where it was the majority of corporations who were pushing hard for the emissions trading scheme, while the (then) opposition Government opposed it on the basis it would upset Corporations.
Slowly but surely, little by little progress is being made. Although destruction does seem to be taking place more rapidly...
Or just encouraging people to have only one child, to adopt or some combination. The thing is that I think people are waking up and seeing the same or similar things and it will get done. I read so many great fixes in every field and area that will eventually be implemented. Following leaders too much has perhaps always been the number one problem. They just don't and couldn't know everything and we have to stop putting our destiny in their hands, because collectively we too often now better than they do I think.
Another big problem is that they own the media and control the dialog except on the internet where we can get other ideas and put together our own scenario. As long as the media is owned by a few we will be in this mind trap.
Between radical Muslim extremists and the UN's Agenda 21 Depopulation initiative I think we are heading in the right direction. Throw in some Federal take-overs that may incite public backlash and we are brewing up a pot of depopulation ideas already so don't worry about it and make sure you shoot straight when the time comes. You may have to dodge a few bullets, but you'll be OK if you're on the ball.

Actually, overpopulation is... if not solved, at least headed in that direction. The rate at which population is growing has declined sharply, and it's likely that we'll reach zero population growth within a few decades.
And, well, in the short to medium term, we're not going to fix AGW by fixing overpopulation, unless we fix overpopulation by killing a lot of people off. We'll fix AGW by reducing the amount of fossil fuels that people use, by switching to alternate energy technologies.
And what is humane? Having babies spayed or neutered upon birth? Or how about a law that forbids any person to procreate without getting a government issued license specifying the date and time and who with. Or even better, Lets have litmus tests to determine who would make appropriate parents of that one child and allow only those types reproduce.
Or let's make quality of life laws that mandate that every child or fetus with a detected birth defect be euthanized to spare society and the earth of precious extra resources it would take to raise a person who will obviously not be a full contributing member of society. Let's set a maximum a person is allowed to live. An age when the elderly are euthanized because they have lived out their usefulness and any more time left on earth unnecessarily consumes finite valuable resources by people are are no longer contributing members of society.
We need government to tell us when it is necessary to have a baby and who can have a baby. We need government to tell people how long people are allowed to live and who is to die for the good of society.
Starting with the unborn is easy because they haven't even drawn their 1st breath yet so they have no voice in the issue.
I have a better idea, every person who believes that the world is overpopulation should volunteer to have their own kids that they didn't abort spayed and neutered. Then these people ought to volunteer to off themselves to save the world.
well,to continuously run the country and it's economy, the country depends on huge energy consumption.However,the developed countries are continuously trying to develop some environment friendly energy generation methods but this isn't the case in developing countries.They want to become a developed country so they are using too much fossil fuels having less concern for the environment.Now,it is difficult for one country to force another country to do the same.we can can say that some countries are trying to make balance between energy generation and environment pollution.however,every person is different and they may not care about the environment and use more energy without any concern for the atmosphere.Every person needs to individually realize about his role in making or destroying the environment.

Governments hold useless climate conferences and make decisions which are senseless, as, for example, that within a certain period of years the CO2 output is to be reduced by such and such a percent. This is completely nonsensical fussing and posturing because, even if that which is decided were to be achieved, the entire thing is not even a drop on a hot stone. This is because, already in the time between the resolution and its realisation, hundreds of millions more human beings will populate the Earth and produce still more filth and CO2 than the quantity that was decided upon. Therefore, the entire climate conference is counter-productive and idiotic because the only correct solution would be one from conferences concerned with the reduction of the overpopulation, at which resolutions, which are effective worldwide, for the radical decimation of the overpopulation, would be made and carried out and certainly by means of a worldwide, regulated control of births. Overpopulation is the root cause of the excessive consumption of natural resources and food stuffs, environmental damage and world poverty.The implementation of HUMANE global population reduction bringing a halt to births by way of a global effort e.g. global halt for a period of seven years followed by seven years of births, then the cycle repeating over again. Surely this suggestion or something similar offers the only realistic and effective solution.
