Why should society learn more about climate change?

Why is it important that people know about climate change? I need to write an essay and I need three reasons. Thank you :)

The most important reason is probably that it's hard to solve a problem that you don't even know exists.

You may find some of these resources helpful:

Good luck on your essay!

The majority of societies are democratic, that means the people decide.

How can people decide and vote if they are not given the full information on what is happening.

Society needs information from all sides so they can decide what is true.

Unfortunately society is usually led by media and government, and doesn't get all the information it requires.

A return to free speech is needed, which we do not have now, as television and newspapers have no requirement to air facts and views that they don't agree with or like.

They need to know

1 is climate change good or bad?

2 is it happening or not?

3 Can we realistically do anything about it, or should we prepare to adapt to it.

1) It changes the world- there are several countries that risk being drowned because of the effects of climate change. Two regions include the Maldives and American Samoa. The entire population of the area is to be relocated by the government. World maps could change and states like California could be dramatically reduced in size.

2) It affects global policies- As human influence continues to affect the global climate, world leaders must respond to this. Gas taxes, regulations on businesses, demand for new technology all contribute to your life. These things are likely to change and the reason behind it is climate change.

3) It affects life- Many species of insects have migration patterns. As the climate changes, pollination patterns in plants may become mismatched with migration patterns. No pollination=no fruit, no plants, no vegetables. Every living thing depends upon plants for their survival, because they either eat plants or organisms that depend on plants. This will affect agriculture. Furthermore, many species are adapted to specific weather patterns and the change in these means they will either have to adapt or die. Flooding and droughts will occur which impact not only other organisms, but us as well because we need fresh water to survive.

Learning about climate change is almost irrelevant.

Learning how to live within our means of natural resources is what's important.

Climate change is a side-effect. The root problem is that we use more resources and produce more waste/pollution than the earth can renew/process.

There are multiple reasons. 3 are:

1. People learn what they can do to slow down climate change.

2. They learn things people have done to effect the earth.

3. They also then know how serious of a subject it is.

1. Your children

2. Their children's children

3. Their children's children's great-great-great-grandchildren.

U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2010:

http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?record...

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems.”

http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpine...

“Choices made now about carbon dioxide emissions reductions will affect climate change impacts experienced not just over the next few decades but also in coming centuries and millennia…Because CO2 in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe.”

http://www.physics.fsu.edu/awards/NAS/

“The Academy membership is composed of approximately 2,100 members and 380 foreign associates, of whom nearly 200 have won Nobel Prizes. Members and foreign associates of the Academy are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research; election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors that can be accorded a scientist or engineer.”

-Education-about the reality of the damage we have done to our planet.

-Prevention- of further destruction of the world we live in

-Correction- of the terrible things we have done to damage our world

-Investment- in the future of clean energy

-Politics- A nation is nothing but a group of individuals. If you make climate change and environmental protection important in your life, your community, your state, eventually it will ripple out to the country and the globe. Demand answers from local and state politicians, and get the community involved with solutions and events.

-WAKING PEOPLE UP! People will either know about climate change now and try to do something about it, or sit around with their heads up their asses until their home is underwater, and their whole neighborhoods are destroyed. The more people who are taking ACTION the better!

They need to see that our home is being torn apart by us, thus causing climate change

We only have so many natural resources, and it affects climate change by burning these

Because climate change affects EVERYONE!

To make money for the scammers who rule you, and invented this nonsense.

Carbon trading?>

So they can find out that it is a natural occurrence and nothing to be afraid of.
