What are people doing now to minimize or prevent the possible effects of Global Warming?

Cities are investing millions of dollars -- actually NYC is investing Billions. The federal government is doing nothing because the American people chose a House of Representatives that will do nothing. We have voted to pass the buck to future generations because we baby-boomers don't want nobody to take from our party. It is our democratic right to punt responsibilities to the next generation and we have chosen to do so.

There is really little good about global warming. It it happened more slowly, perhaps, as it could make some places better for growing food plus CO2 is good for plants. But it is disturbing water supplies so much that agriculture cannot benefit.

Cities will not be flooded in your lifetime. But NYC subways were flooded for the first time ever with storm Sandy. You will see more of this: storm surges flooding places that were previously safe.

There is no good side of Global Warming but only complete bad side. I have come to know that there is a big hole on the ozone layer situating above the Antarctic Continent. Then the ice caps get melted due to the arrival of Ultra violet rays. The melting of Antarctic continent can increase the level of the ocean. It can happen because it is the largest ice desert in the world (with an area of over 14 million square km). Therefore, the major coast cities will be submerged.

No, the cities will not be submerged. Any sea level rise will be gradual, so coastal cities will adjust. Much of Boston used to be underwater. This is why some of the top tourist places are nowhere near the ocean today. It is currently rising about 2-3 millimeters per year, and has been for over a hundred years. Then next hundred years, we can thus expect a sea level rise of perhaps one foot.

1. GW is natural. AGW is only fiction.

2. South Dakota, where I was born, was once covered up with a glacier. Now it is productive farm land.

3. Quote by Noel Brown, UN official: "Entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000. Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of "eco-refugees," threatening political chaos."

Yes he meant the year 2000. Do you see that happening? There is your answer.

What are people doing 'talking' a lot of hot air.

Is there a good side, yes CO2 is plant food, it increasing earth's plant biomass, it is causing deserts to recede, and increasing crop productions, greening our planet.

The last one hundred years have seen a rise of nearly 7 inches, and even with a slight acceleration, the rise (if it continues to rise) will be much less than a meter by 2100 which it makes highly unlikely that these cities will flood.

I think people should now aware about global warming and everyone should keep clean environment from various pollution like water pollution, air pollution etc.If we can protect or prevent our environment from above this so then we can freely live..

2. Is there any good side when it comes to global warming?

3. Is there really a possibility that major coast cities in the world (for example New York, Tokyo, Sydney etc) will be completely submerged due to the global warming??? If so, how's the probability like???
