The "Tropical Hot Spot" is an invention of the skeptics and/or deniers?

In fairness, this only shows that the models that predict tropical hotspots are inaccurate, not that all of AGW is inaccurate.

That being said 97% of models overestimating the current warming is certainly indication of overestimation. All of the data correction increasing warming is certainly indication of biased results. The numerous exaggerations and claims of certianty in the media without correction by the scientists is certainly indication of an inherent problem within the climate "science" community in dealing with the media. The unwillingness to admit these issues and deal with them, is an indication of a much larger problem. The large problem being that politics is likely driving science and to a larger extent how science is reported.

You are right. If they models don't work, they have nothing. If their models work, there should be a THS. The lack of a definitive THS is kind of humorous since alarmists don't have any problem with it missing. They don't have any problem with the failure of the models to predict the recent climate pause. They don't have any problem with anything that contradicts AGW. They clearly have their blinders on.

The THS is a concoction of the AGW cultist "science" which built their entire system of computer climate change modeling around it. Just as with everything else that fails to come to fruition as planned by the AGW cultists they are denying that they ever made the claims in retrospect.

I didn't say it was an invention of denier liars--I said it was a specious argument, which it is. It is specious because (1) it does not distinguish man-made warming from other warming (2) we already know it has been warming and (3) measurements are simply not accurate enough in that region to draw any conclusions.

By the way, you do understand that even if the conclusions of the study in your link were true (they admit there's not enough evidence to tell), that they would not contradict AGW, don't you?

It is silly to deny the atmosphere has been warming. Absolutely silly. And that is what you are arguing. A hot spot discussion has nothing to due with attributing the cause of the warming.

Anyone who denies that the environment has warmed can be dismissed as completely out of touch.

The "hotspot" was a creation of the computer models. : “IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR4 (Fourth Assessment Report) GCMs (General Circulation Models) predict a tropical tropospheric warming that increases with height, reaches its maximum at ~200 hPa, and decreases to zero near the tropical tropopause. This study examines the GCM-predicted maximum warming in the tropical upper troposphere using satellite MSU (microwave sounding unit)-derived deep-layer temperatures in the tropical upper- and lower-middle troposphere for 1979–2010. While satellite MSU/AMSU observations generally support GCM results with tropical deep-layer tropospheric warming faster than surface, it is evident that ...
