Releasing refrigerant R-12 into the atmosphere is a criminal offense?

rue or false

A.K.A. Dichlodifluoromethane. It was banned in '96 because of concerns for the o-zone. You must be a licensed professional to recycle it or you are in violation of federal law.

No. Abusing the language causes offense.

Releasing R-12 is an offence in countries that signed up to the Montreal protocol.

Intentional releasing of many refrigerants, including R-12 is a crime. Incidental release is not.

We are required to track our use of this refrigerant and when old equipment is taken out of service we are required to remove the refrigerant from the euqipm, ent prior to disposing of the equipment.

This refrigerant also has a VERY high resale value due to the fact it is now illegal to manufacture it, and has been for many years now, and there is still a fair amount of older equipment that requires this refrigerant to function properly.

It is an offense. Punishable by severe fine i believe

I don't think it is. Contrary to denialist conspiracy theories, Al Gore and the IPCC do not rule the world. But perhaps the coal lobby does.

Yes it is. I knew of a construction worker in California who inadvertently drove a nail into a line and was sentenced to two years.

obviously true.
