Is heavy snowfall in parts of the USA proof that global warming is a myth?

Global warming may be stalling the Rossby waves and making the severe cold weather more extreme. Dr. Jennifer Francis' ground-breaking work tied the loss of Arctic sea ice to a slowing jet stream, deep Rossby Waves, and the resulting (rapid) rise in stalled weather patterns. Article here. Paper here: Evidence linking Arctic amplification to extreme weather in mid-latitudes Oops, links didn't paste, but you can find them in the article below:

Right. As expected when you are not able to prove that global climate change is a myth through the use of science, you will simply talk about the weather. Ottawa Mike is correct. Society is too prone to looking out the window and thinking that the weather they see is what is happening to the global climate. That is why Ottawa Mike prefers the way things are perceived over the actual realities of what exists.

Just as a few years of high temperatures do not prove global warming, one month of heavy snow does not disprove it either. If there is global warming, it is gradual and does not prevent usual temperature and weather swings either way.

Beside, the snowfall that we have had recently is nothing compared to when I was a boy 45 years ago.

You need to look farther into it. Climate is not weather. And yes, dinosaurs flourished in a warmer environment - the issue with man made climate change is that it's happening much faster than creatures can evolve to adapt. Sort of the difference between "Well, my house gets warmer in the summer" and "My house is on fire."

And just like the house being on fire, going into a room that isn't burning yet doesn't make the house *not* be on fire.

It's called winter. Even with global warming, we'll still have winter at least for our lifetimes. Global warming is a long term slow rise in overall average temperature of the planet, & isn't disproven by a few days of ice & snow.

No, and it really should be irrelevant. Some number of alarmists are so annoyed by the argument that they want to rename global warming to things like net global warming because they think this is actually why people aren't willing to adopt their preferred policies.

No but it is likely to push AGW as a societal issue even further down than it is right now. It's pretty hard to claim warming is a problem to somebody who is digging themselves out of snow...again.

no, it's proof of ignorance. the USA is not the world and weather is not long term climate.

In the world of grown-ups it's not proof; for the immature it is.

It sure isn't warm this winter in many parts of the country. I actually kind of wish global warming would take over anyway. As long as it rains, we don't need snow and all the problems and inconvienences it causes. I hate cold weather. And besides, dinosaurs and other life forms flourished on earth on a time when the whole world was tropical. Humans could too.
