I think you need to do some serious research and study on this. The scope you are thinking will take an enormous amount of land.....just to grow them to 1 meter. Nurseries that do this start with greenhouse or other controlled environment and containers.....often tubes. This allows the baby trees to be set out in the nursery rows. Watering by nature is not a good plan. A drought can wipe you out. You need a back up irrigation plan. Then you need to know how to properly handle the roots......a 1 meter tree has a substantial root system and digging them up to transplant is a major undertaking. For a start I recommend this book: http://books.google.com/books?id=o9SAQQu...

There are other books more closely related to what you need to know. And that scale is would be a wise decision to work for a nursery already doing this work so you see just what is involved. I commend your thoughts, but don't rush into this blind........You mentioned you only have money for seeds, they start SMALL. Most, if not all businesses fail because of no money --capital.

I have seen it done many times here in Philippines, the seeds were planted in plastic bag pots (about 8" diameter) the pots were placed close together, and watered occasionally by hose pipe.

2 or 3 million is a huge number, I bought 4,000 mahogany seedlings and that covered 3 hectares.

I would definitely reccomend starting off smaller.

Do not worry about how tall they are just grow them until the pots are root filled, a useful tip when planting is dig a hole 3ft wide and plant the sapling in the middle, this will insure a slight depression which will hold moisture during the dry season, google "the man who stopped the desert"

Start with one million, then your plan will be good, but with that many trees you should plant them right where you want them, an you can do the next set of a million the next year and another the year after that

Assuming you work every day of the year for 12 hours a day that means you will be growing and planting 138 trees an hour. I hope you can dig quickly. You're going to mighty tired after 5 years of that.

I think it is a good idea an I commend you far having had it and I shall bow to your inventiveness.

With 2-3 million trees, youre gonna need a lot of space and time.

I would definately start off much smaller.

water them to the point of the soil being moist, it holds together, but doesn't spill water out like a sponge.
