Geography assessment help? Climate change?

1) No one knows as no one and no inadequate computer model can predict climate or give weather forecasts 50 ears into the future.

2) Nothing, even a child knows you can't affect the weather.

3) They wouldn't make a difference.

You can start by defining climate change by referencing an on-line encyclopedia like wikipedia; "Climate change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years."

Then explain why scientist think this is happening

"The greenhouse effect is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases, and is re-radiated in all directions. Since part of this re-radiation is back towards the surface and the lower atmosphere, it results in an elevation of the average surface temperature above what it would be in the absence of the gases." and " Strengthening of the greenhouse effect through human activities is known as the enhanced (or anthropogenic) greenhouse effect. This increase in radiative forcing from human activity is attributable mainly to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. According to the latest Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations"

Then you move on to answer the questions.

The first question is the difficult part as you have to try to predict mans actions and inactions, as well as how much the climate will change over that period. Google might be able to give you some help and try to stick to science sites rather then blogs, as the climate change deniers are either extreme free marketeers or conspiracy theorists.

The second question is easier, we have to severely reduce dumping the waste product of burning fossil fuels (CO2) into the atmosphere we all share. We can do this in various ways, I am sure you can come up with ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Again google might be able to help you with ideas.

The third question (as to why they would make a difference) depends on how you answer the first two questions. Just remember that the facts are that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, that without greenhouse gasses the earth average temperature would be 33C colder (a giant snowball) and that we have added 40% more CO2 to the atmosphere. There is not one scientist who denies these facts.

Hope this is enough to get you started.

it wood b hot nd the ice wood melted 2. stop greenhouse gas 3. because the greenhouse gas makes climate change

1. Almost anything; nature will do whatever she is going to do.

2. Nothing

3. See above.

this may be brief but REMEMBER

CLIMATE CHANGE DOES NOT MEAN GLOBAL WARMING- SOME COUNTRIES ARE GETTING COLDER.

therefore remember not to write just about "oooh its gonna get cold and the ice is gonna melt' write about how some parts of the world will get colder.

For school i have to write an essay about climate change by the time i am 65, but i don't know what the climate would be like as i have left my books at school so i have sources to help me. So please can you try answering these question, as i have no idea how to complete my essay any other way.

Thanks;)

QUESTIONS:

1)By the time i am 65 what changes could have occurred because of the climate change?

2)What can individuals do to try and make a difference and stop the climate change changing earth?

3)Why would these things make a difference?

I think this is all thank you very much;)
