Will UK winter be the longest ever?

All weather events are a part of climate change. You can't have it both ways. Talking out of both sides of your mouth (as antarcticice and others do) isn't very educational and is disingenuous to the human psyche. Global Warming and Climate Change are the same according to climate scientists. All weather events should be presented to prove it even further.

The PDO and AMO both being in a positive phase caused the most recent warming trend that melted the Arctic Ice. Both being in a negative phase will cause a colder North America and Northern Europe as long as the negative phase continues. This will simply happen because warmer waters will not flow to the Arctic like they have in the most recent past.

Weather events "are" part of the climate changing. The science can't even define the absolute temperature nor will they define what "natural climate variability" is because they still don't know what is normal. These same people can't even define what the past temperatures were and how they "naturally" fluctuated. A less than 0.8C temperature rise over 150 years is somehow catastrophic, yet they couldn't even tell the difference if the temperature rose that much in their own living room.

The length of any winter season, as are all seasons, is determined by Earth's tilt on its axis and yearly journey around our sun. The further away from the equator you are located the more pronounced this effect is. But, the length of time of each season remains the same. Seasonal conditions may prove to be more or even less pronounced for any single region or local area. This is set up by a number of factors. ENSO, PDO, AMO, a fluctuation in the ocean currents and the position and strength of the jet stream. But, you already knew this. Is this why you do not encourage comments to this question?

You once made the comment that I will use the Laws of Physics, Chemistry and Thermodynamics to show that the AGWT is a valid scientific theory and the scientific theory that best explains the observations concerning our changing climate. Yet you say that I never explain these Laws of Science. I cannot do the math involved, but I can comprehend what the math tells us. I know, through observation, that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. But I cannot do the math that would show this. I now have a question for you, since these Laws of Science cannot be explained within the space allowed by Yahoo Answers. My question to you is if you are not using these Laws of Science concerning AGW then what are you using? Incantations from the Harry Potter series???

Laws that are written by a government entity are often later interpreted by the court system. The Laws of Physics are not open to such interpretation. The Laws of Physics describe the universe, as we know it. The Laws of Physics states that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. This cannot be interpreted to mean anything else. It is what it is. Anytime we have observed two objects trying to occupy the same space at the same we have observed the results of this. Here on Earth and with any observations made throughout the universe. I do not think that you are so easily confused by this. I think you wish to confuse others on the meaning of laws written by a government entity and by Laws that are observations of how the universe works.

Not sure what a local weather pattern has to do with global climate change, the story explain why

"a high pressure ‘blocking system’ drawing cold air in from the Arctic will wreak havoc with our weather"

Given that (again as the story states) the last time something similar happened, was 2010

"A scenario similar to December 2010 is likely to develop"

i.e. the warmest year in the modern record, maybe you should actually read these links before posting them.

Well that is the projection, and I believe that is what is coming for them.

Those who fail to understand that climate change involves snow and cold are in the dark. Europe, Great Britain in particular, has seen more intense cold and snow, which has led to many deaths, on top of rising energy costs. Much of this is due to Arctic ice melt and is expected to continue for a few years.

Climate change science is settled regardless of the whining of skeptics. We are indeed experiencing AGW, that part is a fact. How exactly individual aspects of climate change will play out is still up for grabs. England has seen more serious heat waves and cold snaps. Flooding has and will continue to be a problem in southern and south eastern England and flooding is a problem for London

The "science is not settled" is one of many skeptic myths, and one they love to cling to.

It is sad that people who are,or feign to be intelligent fail to grasp these simple concepts.

I mean how can you know it is AGW but conscientiously refuse to accept the reality of it and knowingly provide misinformation and lies to people who come here looking for help and have faith they will be responded to honestly. Criminal

Winter is always the same length, you're asking about it's severity. Very sloppy thinking on your part

Not likely.

Obviously nobody knows, it's just a guess, don't bother to comment just enjoy the photo's
