Weather and climate certainly are different, but they're interrelated. Climate provides the boundary conditions that drive weather, and climate is in some sense a long term mean of weather.
As for what "the left" blame on global warming, I don't really know. I'm much more interested in what scientists have to say about it. When lay people of any type start giving their own interpretation about what global warming is or isn't responsible for they often get it mixed up.
The difference I see between the left and right on the issue is that the "left" tend to defer to scientists for their opinion, while the "right" get their information from blogs, Fox News, Michele Bachmann, Sen. Inhofe, Fake Lord Monckton, or John Coleman--which amounts to no one at all that has actually studied climate.
@Tommy, hate to tell you but The World did not have the coldest winter in 70 years. Tell that to the people in the Southern Hemisphere, you know that other half of the world. They have had the warmest winter in probably more than 70 years. You have to look at the overall climate picture, not just parts of the globe and not just a few months. The ten warmest avg earth temps have been in the past 11 years. Do you think you might see a trend here???

Well I have many speculations why but the important thing is that I feel the public is going into apocalypse overload and climate change stories, especially the more alarming variety, are tending towards a decrease.
Only really large weather events stir up any discussion of climate change (not global warming any more). And even now with large weather events trying to be linked somehow to climate change (and by implication man made CO2 emissions), it's beginning to backfire. A good example is the Met Office chief scientist Julia Slingo who is taking some pretty heavy flack for stating: "But all the evidence suggests there is a link to climate change," regarding the flooding in the UK.
"All" the evidence? Even a regular Joe can see the desperation in that. Climate change is low on most polls of priorities of countries. And it's getting worse. And it's the more alarmist of the AGW proponents who are shooting themselves in the foot. It's sad but it's popcorn time.
Because that's what propagandists do. Any excuse will serve the Alarmists Eco-Fascist. They will try to push their agenda forward no matter how extreme the lies they need to tell.
For more than 30 years we heard all the gloom and doom stories about how the Earth has a fever and the catastrophic events that were almost certain to happen if immediate action was not taken (more taxes) to stop man-made Global Warming.
But now that it's no longer warming and in fact cooling, they want us all to forget they ever predicted warming. They are even making claims that warming has caused cooling --- as dumbfoundingly stupid as that is.

Good straw man argument, but obviously you're picking rare instances in special circumstances or just making it up. Clear skies today here and not one person blamed it on Global warming. Many days of clear skies in Seattle this time of year and it IS due to a changing climate since this is rainy season there. Heavy thunderstorms in Antarctica during the winter would also be extremely abnormal, but not in Indonesia.

I'd say look at your own question header you are talking about "weather" deniers have been trying do that fro years bleating about snow in their state, or even their own driveway. We have seen many such question on that very thing in just the last week from the sadly misinformed as they try to talk about snow in just the U.S. while they try to ignore what is happening in the rest of the world.
A warming of the planet will have many effects on weather some will warm some will cool depending on where you are and nobody really knows for sure how those forces will interact that is the nature of 'weather' but the driver of that is a warming planet, and frankly there is now no doubt at all we are warming.

as I know the world heats up and cools down which is just a natural cycle of the earth take a look at U.K. They had a medieval warm period where they was growing grapes then they had a little ice age where the river Thames frozen over, did they have cars and was they polluting in the medieval times the answer is a big fat NO global warming THEORY is just a scam to make money.

They were given the task of finding out, but they took it a step further and made it politically motivated. Weather currently occurs in a climate that is 0.8C warmer, on average, than it was a century ago. Some of this due to humans and some due to natural variation such as the PDO. An increase in greenhouse gases has caused more energy to be retained in the atmosphere. This results in changes in the weather systems of the world. All weather, currently, is the result of this redistribution of energy. The major question comes in when we ask how weather extremes and non-extremes will change in a warming world, how energy will be redistributed, and so on. You often see people on here stating that the planet is not warming, the warming is not due to CO2, and so on and make claims that scientists/climatologists are debating it as well. they are not. what they are debating is how the weather will change in a warming world.
