For something no media covered, a lot of media seem to have reported on the Great Lakes.

Laughable as always!

Because it's IRRELEVANT! Just like that ship that got caught in Antarctic sea ice a few months ago, it doesn't actually mean anything. Global warming happens over the long term, and one annoying long and cold winter doesn't change the fact that the Earth is warming faster than it has at any time in the existence of the human species. I'm in Minnesota, and we got about 5 inches of snow today, that doesn't mean we're going into a new ice age.

One possible explanation to why the great lakes are more frozen than they were 20 years ago is that they're more polluted. Ice crystals form faster and last longer when there's a lot of dissolved/suspended crap in it.

Around here (the Duluth Region) it seems to be a non-event, despite some knucklehead in one of the blogs I googled trying to link ice cover on the Great Lakes to trade unions in the area to the Keystone Pipeline to African Americans to Obama to liberal elitists.

Hahaha...talk about seven steps to Kevin Bacon.

That may seem like a sidebar, and to some large extent it is. However, the point is how newsworthy the ice extent of the Great Lakes in a single season is (or on a single day) and how much interest people really take in it. Around the Great Lakes itself-at least in my area-there seems to be very little real interest, it is just another season. The broader implications-such as water supplies in the Region, how the tourist season will be affected, impacts on wildlife-are getting more attention, at least locally. And at the most arcane level-a conspiratorial effort by the media to suppress news that runs counter to the goals of the liberal elite, which is to control the masses by perpetuating the myth of mankind-caused global warming...one would, I believe, have to bring in Kevin Bacon.

On a personal level, I DO find record-breaking events such as the ice cover on the Great Lakes interesting, especially since about half of the days of my life I am looking at Lake Superior over coffee in the morning or as I drive along the shore, and it is curious to me that there isn't more about it in the media right at the moment. I don't have a good answer on why other than it does seem that people are getting rather complacent about bad weather and especially bad winter weather this season...it has been a season of records. The explanation may be as simple as that. I think that is the one I pick.

Wow..I wasnt aware

It is a conspiracy by the thousands of scientist all over the world publishing papers in order to persuade the news media to publish scare stories so that politicians can raise your taxes and/or bring about a tyrannical one world government.

Interesting. I guess they also ignored that it was the hottest January-February-March in Southern California history.

Doesn't fit the agenda.

They spend so much time and effort to propagandizing people into believing the man-made Global Warming myth -- they sure don't want to undo any of their work.

-----------------------

It doesn't fit the AGW cultist narrative for the earth is turning into a blazing ball of fire.

I read about it.

How did you find out about it?

Because it doesn't fit the desired storyline of global warming.

If the media didn't report it, how would you know about it.
