Is this Global Warming or Climate Change just a shell game being used to divert attention from real issues?

Your question has been hijacked, Yes I am certain it is a distraction, a very common political tactic.

When ISIS strikes, Putin invades Ukraine, Ebola comes to the U.S. Obama and Kerry shout climate change.

Argentina started a war over the Falklands because of a likely revolt over the dying economy and secret service tactics.

Hitler used the Jews to build his power base.

And it is easily observed. But if you are systematically rejecting evidence based on some persistent conspiracy theory that NOAA/NASA 'always adjusts data upwards', one would easily miss it.

Below sea level trend data for New York (The Battery station). Cannot find data for neither Plymouth Rock nor St Augustine, very likely due to funding cuts. Nearby stations to those locations show a very similar positive trend.

Land isn't as stable as some might suppose. Here in California we have obvious "tectonic" forces that tend to push up land but not always. In places like New Orleans, the accumulation of tens of thousands of feet of sediment building up on the Mississippi Delta causes the land to fall. These relative changes in land make measuring sea level tricky. Places like Plymouth Rock are probably relatively stable but there may be some "isostatic rebound" from glaciers that may have weighed it down in the not so distant past and may be springing back (think in terms of tens of thousands of years). I am skeptical of 6 inches a century but that might be 6 inches in the last couple centuries and there is no guarantee of a continuation. Since it has presumably been warming for approximately 300 years, a rise wouldn't surprise me and most of it is due to thermal expansion which is likely a temporary response IMO. In any event a foot or two isn't significant. The tides around here result in over 6 feet of change so a few inches wouldn't be easy to notice even if the land were stable.

Sea levels fluctuate. It's always been that way. Climate fluctuates as well. Ever since the last mini ice age on average glaciers have melted and climate warmed. I believe it's normal. With or without the the last 80 yrs when industrialization really got big.

No one knows if it will be warmer or colder in 5 years, let alone 100 years. Politicians are just playing into the hands of the "we are doomed, because man is evil" nonsense that was the basis of all religions. These are the same kooks who stockpiled water and food for the doomsday predictions of Dec 31, 1999 and Dec 21, 1012 instead of doing anything that actually helps man kind, like building more nuclear power stations.

See Gringo's answer. btw, Plymouth Rock was placed where it is now (what remains of it after it broke) after was displayed inland. A few sites would cherry-picked. See the data for the Globe.

Every time Obama screws up, he needs to raise a new diversion. It was "Global Warming's" turn today.
