What's the worse that believers think will happen to the planet?

Due to the 0.02% of co2?

The climate-religion folk believe that such a change could disrupt the entire earth and destroy all life.

In reality, it will cause a little warming. A little warming will have consequences. Some good, some bad. Overall we are not sure as to whether the bad will outweigh the good, or vice verse, SO we should work towards reducing our CO2 emissions. BUT, clearly we are not talking about catastrophe, so our "solutions" should not be overly burdensome.

Dook,

We are already taking about 0.5% of GDP in JUST Gasoline taxes. In addition, the oil companies pay corporate taxes, state taxes, and property taxes.

In all, the amount paid in taxes by oil companies (or us when buying gasoline, etc.) comes to about 1% of GDP. THAT IS THE TAX ON ONE INDUSTRY.

This is why the dems anger me so much. Do you realize that all the taxes (state, local federal) we pay come out to 33% of GDP??? The claim that we are not paying enough taxes is absolutely absurd.

If you disagree, then please enlighten me as to what percentage of the GDP you think should be taken by the government???

To quote Milton Friedman:

"I think the government solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem and very often makes the problem worse."

Want an example??? Take Social Security. If you like it, then I have a deal for you. IF you give me 6% of your income for the rest of your life, then when you turn 65, I will start giving you money back. If you don't make it to 65, I keep all of the money you gave me. If you don't make it to 85, then you will get back less money from me, then you gave to me.

How about that deal??? I am willing, through the generosity of my heart to offer you the chance to double your social security benefits. SURELY, if you believe social security is so great, then you would want to take advantage of my generous offer.

Thing is.... No one EVER wants to take advantage of my offer. NO ONE!!!!

ON the other hand, I could privatize social security with an FDIC-like guarantee. Not only would you get more money from social security, but you would have an automatic life-insurance policy that would go to your heirs. (Wouldn't it be grand if people at least had enough money to bury their relatives???)

In addition, this one action would free up about 4.5% of GDP to be used by industry.

Stubby,

I believe neither of the people you mention. I have this odd and rather absurd belief that I should actually let the data speak for itself.

Well, I think global warming will result a wide range of changes and, for us to mitigate against those, we need to start planning and acting now.

The global population will increase. This will result in increased demand for natural resources such as coal, oil, and gas which will cause the price to rise. It will add additional pressure in terms of food production, fresh water supplies, and disease prevention.

Now add into that the predictions that global warming will result in a redistribution of precipitation and now you have to plan for increased periods of drought in some nations, and increased probability of flooding in other nations. You have to plan for how you supply water to your population if the places you built reservoirs will experience less rainfall on average.

Some regions of the planet will benefit and farmers will be able to grow crops and increase yields. In other parts of the global, crop production will decrease due to the effects of global warming. That means we now have to plan how we redistribute that food.

Many species of plants and animals will be affected by the change in climate. We really have no idea what the consequences of that are since the natural world is immensely complicated. It is likely that global warming adds additional stress to ecosystems and a pressure on species already struggling.

So, I don't believe the world is doomed. But I do believe that global warming will impact the planet and we should examine how and make plans to deal with those issues. I think that's prudent. The alternative is to 'wait and see', in which case if the problems turn out to be real you end up trying to find a solution in a panic and spending an awful lot more cash than you otherwise would have.

Given that 0.02% of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is what we add by burning hydrocarbons for 2.2 days, I'll tell you on September 5.

The worst is that all these high profile people who make stupid amount of money will eventually fade away. for example a soccer player gets paid over 100k a week the billionaire owners sooner or later will not be able to afford the wages think about it what will it be in 10 years time a mill a week? who on earth could afford that?

Many scientific geniuses here have shown that if .02% of America's GDP is taken by the government in the form of taxes on petroleum, the US will enter an immediate Stalinist Gulag, like those which control Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, and British Columbia and oppress their citizens. Just look at those Scandinavians fleeing in droves to seek refuge in the paradises of Houston and Atlanta. If the Marxists take over America, then the Militia movement may be the only resort left. Let us all pray to Sarah Palin, and please keep the dozens of questions coming here. It may be the last way to stave off complete depotism.

that tiny argument does not wash. a very small match can start a forest fire, a tiny virus can kill you. It's not the %, it's the effect, a small 0.5W/sq M excess, with a lot of sq M over the entire planet. Ask Australians or Californian if they are happy with climate change

The particular most severe will be that most these kinds of visible those who help make ridiculous sum of money can at some point fade. as an example any baseball person receives paid out above 100k weekly the particular billionaire masters ultimately will never be capable of spend the money for salary contemplate it just what might it be inside a decade moment any work weekly? which in the world can manage in which?

well scientists don't believe in God so they will point to the periman extinction as an example of increase co2

I believe in Jesus Christ and know Go0d is in control and made promises to noah that he would not destroy the world with a flood again

Crop failure , resultant famine and politicalunrest, It's occurring now and getting worse, you only have to look further than your own backyard, which is hard for American like you

The earth will be cinderized. (That is burned to a crisp for the Dorkster.)

Due to the 0.02% of co2?

Worst case for them is that capitalism and freedom will prevail

that Deniers would think there is a huge conspiracy going on in the scientific community and believe things Rush Limbaugh says and think people like Neil deGrasse Tyson are liars
