Is the US military in on the climate change hoax plot?

Seems that they think it's a problem.

The US military is in on so many conspiracies, why not one more? The most persistent conspiracies are Area 51 space aliens, the Kennedy assassination and 911.

They are just a pawn in this, It is interesting to note how the phrase "climate change" is replacing "global warming" as the catch phrase of environmentalism. Some scientists/climatologists are certain that human activity, primarily greenhouse gas emissions, is impacting the environment. What they are not certain about is precisely what the impact will be. A couple of decades ago, "global cooling" was the fear, with warnings of a new ice age being the primary scare tactic. While most scientists/climatologists today believe that global warming is the primary risk, uncertainty has led to "climate change" being used as a less specific warning. Essentially, the climate change message is this: greenhouse gas emissions are damaging the environment, and, while we are not certain what the effect will be, we know it will be bad.

Climatologists, ecologists, geologists, etc., are unanimous in recognizing that the earth has gone through significant temperature/climate changes in the past. Despite the fact that these climate changes were obviously not caused by human activity, many of these same scientists are convinced that human activity is the primary cause of climate change today. Why? There seem to be three primary motivations.

First, some truly and fully believe the greenhouse gas emissions are causing climate change. They honestly examine the data and come to that conclusion. Second, some hold to the climate change mindset with an almost religious fervor. Many within the environmentalist movement are so obsessed with protecting "Mother Earth" that they will use any argument to accomplish that goal, no matter how biased and unbalanced it is. Third, some promote the climate change mentality for financial gain. Some of the strongest proponents of climate change legislation are those who stand to have the greatest financial gain from "green" laws and technologies. Before the climate change mindset is accepted, it should be recognized that not everyone who promotes climate change is doing so from an informed foundation and pure motives.

So ? Is there anything wrong with going green? No, of course not. Is trying to reduce your carbon footprint a good thing? Probably so. Are solar panels, wind mills, and other renewable energy sources worth pursuing? Of course. Are any of these things to be the primary focus of followers of Jesus Christ? Absolutely not! As Christians, our focus should be proclaiming the truth of the gospel, the message that has the power to save souls. Saving the planet is not within our power or responsibility. Climate change may or may not be real, and may or may not be human-caused. What we can know for certain is that God is good and sovereign, and that Planet Earth will be our habitat for as long as God desires it to be. Psalm 46:2-3, "Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

I noticed the same thing BB did, that he is only a meteorologist but as Jeff indicated he is a good one because he tows the alarmist line.

Actually Baccheous I was in the military for 4 years. They are dominated by non-Marxists. You get the occasional one like John Kerry who went in to further his political ambitions and rightly got swift boated by his fellow decent soldiers. Glad I cleared that up for you. Also the Navy seems to have more than its share of leftists and I could name a few wacko admirals not that the one you quoted necessarily is. He is one person and doesn't constitute the military. I guarantee that if you polled the military leadership, climate change would be really low on the list of problems. That is why Democrats seek to keep them from voting at any opportunity. Baccheous demonstrates that he has lost the argument because all he (am I assuming too much here) can do is misquote and lie.

The military in our country does what its civilian leaders tell it to do.

I agree with Raisin that generals are generals because of politics. My brother was a Navy officer and my father was career Navy. He fought the Japanese, the Koreans and the Vietnamese. One thing I learned, particularly from my brother, officer rank is all about politics.

The US military gets out of the house a lot more than you do and can see what's actually happening in the world.

I rofl at many of these answers. As a person who has had military experience I can honestly say I have no clue man. For all I know the military has a secret undersea base that was financed by terrorist illumnati brony's who worship the almighty rainbow jellyfish god and plan on settling on jupiter.

BB: Perhaps because Titley doesn't attempt to argue against people who are far smarter than him on this subject and whose jobs are in the field. Climatology, as has been stated, can consist of a number of professions. Can a meteorologist be knowledgeable in climatology? Yes of course they can. Can an oceanographer be knowledgeable in certain aspects of climate change? Yes of course they can.

Climate change is a big field. not everyone will be n expert in everything related to climate change. But in order to be an expert related to climate change in your field you should at least have studied it in depth and yoru arguments should be reasonable,. Related scientific papers don;t hurt either.

It's hard to believe what these deniers say they believe. ALL of the data, science and physics of heat and atmosphere indicate an ever more robust 'greenhouse effect' caused by the introduction of industrially generated CO2 and methane gas in our paper thin atmosphere. At one time I used to list all of the observed effects of the additional heat index on ocean water, ice, flora and fauna worldwide, but I just don't want to keep typing in the same data over and over.

Listed or not, the crunch will come sooner than later at the rate we're adding greenhouse gases.... 350ppm in 1950. 400ppm today. Fifteen more PPM per decade at this point and probably a more rapid increase soon enough. 450ppm puts us at the foothills of a very rapid warming trend. Currently the excess heat goes to warm seawater and melt ice in the northern hemisphere....somewhat less in the southern. When the ice mostly gone less heat will be absorbed... at that point the atmospheric heat index will rise. Meanwhile...don't worry, be happy!

One read of that, suggests political motivations. While most of the military soldiers are above politics, the generals certainly are not. In fact, politics has always been the job of generals.

And let me break down exactly what the admiral said. "We want more money."

But I'll tell you what, If you are willing to give my $1 million dollars for my potential hardships in the future due to AGW, I will gladly change my stance. My willingness to change my stance for enough money does not make me a liberal, but does make me a capitalist.

Why aren't the Warming Activists bashing Titley for ONLY being a Meteorologist? They sure do slam Watts for that, while daring to speak about global "warming".......Wait a minute.....I forgot.....Titley is a Warming Activist himself.....AND in the employ of NOAA.....AND dependent on maintaining the "horror" message of global "warming" to keep the NOAA taxpayer-provided $Billions flowing in.

Climate change is not a hoax or a plot.

The military are just a bunch of closet liberals soaking up socialized medicine and snorting cocaine while taking joy rides in F-14s.

I know an admiral who used to refer to Bush as President Dickweed and I was at an event on 9/11 2003 when Runsfeld made a suprise visit and the uniformed Naval officers behind me were shouting, "F-U, A-wipe."

And, General Petrayus did not get the nickname Betrayus from a left-wing website. That name was all over DC weeks before his Congressional appearance. It was born in the military - and there is nothing subtle about the meaning.

Seems that they think it's a problem.

Hmm. If we stopped CO2 emissions completely today, when do you think sea levels would stop rising?

Tide Gauge data says 1.7mm per year, GRACE data (not that I am that happy with GRACE) also says 1.7mm per year, Satellites are not a measured source, they are calculated, there are three main satellites Jason, Topex, poseidon, all give different measurements but are calculated with the use of some tide gauge data to show a rise of 3.0mm per year, none of the sources show any acceleration in fact there has been slight decceleration since 2004.

They want in on the cash cow to prepare for a imaginary foe

The military caused global warming with their weather machine ray gun.

Perhaps the Navy is

Even themelting glaciers are in on this hoax, it's a real global conspiracy to raise your taxes

Probably not. So deniers like Kano here deny the question and try to change the subject.

JimZ says that the U.S. military is Marxist. That is how they think.
