Okay I will temporarily go along with mild global warming, I am not against Taxes as long as they do not have that stupid "carbon prefix" in Europe gas and diesel is heavily taxed and always have been, so they tend to drive compact cars, and also diesel cars which are a lot more efficient, they also do not drive hundreds of mile as Americans sometimes do, they tend to take trains or airflights.
This not because of CO2 (Co2 has done it's warming and a reduction will make little difference) it is because of waste, why consume more energy than is necessary.
Getting agreements with other Nations is near impossible, they all have their own different agendas.

Well in this case there is nothing to be done because we can't control the weather or turn down the sun so my world political and legal solution would be to enact a world wide ban on the use of thermometers, this would be done to allow the world's population to live out their remaining days free from worry and fear.
EDIT Oh sorry it's ALL caused by humans in this make believe world, well in that case we must stop all green house gas emissions, which would lead to no goods produced and very little agriculture and no way of transporting food or water to the masses in which case we're all going to be doomed by the cure that prevents us being doomed by the warming.

Issue carbon permits to individuals and not to corporations. Individuals could use these credits to burn gasoline, diesel or natural gas or sell them on a carbon credit exchange. Corporations, including coal fired generating stations would have to buy credits on the carbon credit exchange.

It's what you suggest and how you suggest it. Global Warming (average temperature of the planet) stands at 0.2 C since 1978. With the natural spike of 1 C in 1998 do you really think that a 0.2 C average rise in temperature can be alleviated by human involvement?

Please only answer this if you either believe, or are willing to at least temporarily assume, that 1. the planet is warming, 2. the warming is primarily due to human greenhouse gas emissions, and 3. said warming is likely to be at least moderately harmful.
Assuming you could get everyone in the world to cooperate with your plan (within reason--think treaties and laws, not absolute dictatorial control), approximately what plan would you propose to deal with AGW? What methods do you think would have the most effect for the least negative impact? How would you balance the various direct and indirect costs between developed nations (eg US, Europe), semideveloped nations (eg India, China), and undeveloped nations (eg Africa)? What other factors do you consider important to keep in mind? Any other thoughts?
