They do not play a great role for the whole picture on the Earth, but climate can be influenced by forcing, like for example a volcanic eruption can cool the climate on the whole Earth. Such forcing is called a short term forcing. An example of long term forcing may be continental drift which within millions of years changes the path of ocean currents. To anthropogenic forcing belong fossil fuel burning and agriculture. Not all forcing of humans result in global warming, sulfur dioxide from coal burning produces aerosols and they result in cooling.
These were the main negative influences on the climate that cause the global warming. They are rather serious and need urgent steps taken by people in order to avoid the catastrophes in the world of nature, to which we by the way also belong.
So the climate of the Earth should be an international concern and not only of scientists and ordinary people, but also of those who hold power in their hand and are able to make the politics work not only for money, but also for the future of the whole mankind. Unfortunately, these are mostly beautiful words and promises when elections are in the future as soon as they are over the real situation changes. Not a single national leader has come out publicly and said that the recent spate of hurricanes was the result of global warming, this is a part of conventional wisdom of environmentalists that they should not frighten the public, but should focus their interest on technical solutions, like for example hybrid cars and so on.
Global warming is such a problem that it is necessary to deal with all its aspects, which includes the politics. When politicians formulate their policy they need inputs from many disciplines and from science as well. But unfortunately global warming has become an absolutely political issue and politicians do their best to influence even science.

These people explain away contradiction by claiming it's not a contradiction because the contradiction was peer reviewed, they're ambiguous to ensure the flock doesn't wonder off and start thinking for themselves. Remember these are the same people that would love to ban water because someone told them corporations were using it in their operations and don't forget they're the scientific ones.
I don't speak warmon but let me try explaining something to you knuckle dragging ignorant baboons; we know it's weather (we didn't start claiming weather was being caused by driving SUV's that's a warmon mantra), we know the earth is warming, we know you can't shovel global warming but it sure is fun to watch some of you claim it's the ozone hole, others claim it's just weather, others claim it's because of global warming, and the ones who (haven't got enough courage to leave their Christian god behind and fully embrace the Warmon God) claim God is punishing us until we all start believing and stop driving SUVs, and we really don't have to defend making fun of your ignorant religios beliefs.

It's amazing how deniers have such a hard time distinguishing short-term weather from long-term climate. Cyclops has declared this the ".... second coldest spring in the entire history of the United States" --despite spring being LESS THAN HALF OVER. Here's a tip for you Cyclops, wait until the hour/day/month/season/year/decade is over before making claims about where it ranks.
By the way, while there may be snow in Arkansas, there is also record heat in California, proving that deniers are not only short-sighted, they're provincial.
EDIT for Rio, who apparently misses the obvious: If you think that record heat is not an argument in favor of global warming, then snow in Arkansas in May is just as stupid an argument against it. Now how hard was that to understand?

We can barely predict tomorrows weather. No one can explain precisely in the larger global climate scheme why it is snowing in may but this is not unusual. It has snowed as late as June and July before. In fact climate change has always been a reality and always will be. This has nothing to do with mankind but psychologically many need to ascribe an explanation within their ability to grasp. That is true even when that explanation has no basis in fact.
Be happy you have enough sense to realize a contradiction. Alarmist seem void of common sense. There's a heat wave in California so that proves AWG. I'm at a loss trying to sort that one out. If you have read any of the earlier TAR assessments nothing was mention about record cooler temperatures only heat and precipitation projections for specific regional locations...When in doubt read.
2013, has been the second coldest spring in the entire history of the United States, second only to 1975. 1975 was when the climate change crackpots started a global cooling panic. If it were 90 degrees in the mid-west the global warming hoaxsters would be crying climate change.

Sounds like a question for a scientist or maybe you should listen to Bill Maher make fun of your question. Climate change often leads to temperature extremes. Cold or hot in some areas.
The fact that Glacier National Park has smaller glaciers than it did in 1900 should be a good indication that global warming is occurring. So should the satellite pictures showing how much the polar ice caps have melted since 1972.

We have something called technology now cave people. You can go to any weather station and compare data from decades ago to weather data today. It all shows a gradual climb in temps. You don't have to walk out of your cave, grunt at the sky, and conclude things based on ignorance rather than verifiable data.

Due to global warming temperature becomes extreme, in summers it is extremely hot and during winters it is extremely cold. That's why its snowing in Arkansas as global warming effected climate a lot.
It has been become well established that the melting of arctic ice has affected weather patterns throughout the northern hemisphere: the jet stream has slowed and now tends to become more "wavy", meaning that it is more likely to dip well to the south. Cold weather is likely to become more common in the Southern U.S., not as regular weather but isolated periods of cold weather happening more often.

But also, strange weather happens from time to time with or without humans increasing atmospheric CO2. We really can't say that some freak weather would not have happened if there was a little less CO2. This may be just a freak event that happens every 40 years or so, or it might be part of an evolving new pattern in which Northern Ark gets snow every 15 years or so. It will take a lot of years to determine statistically. Still, if you are truly interested, read the article linked above about how the arctic ice is changing the jet stream and then take a look at the current jet stream pattern that is driving snow so far south.
