How do I effect the environment by recycling?

btw, you *affect* the environment, your actions have an *effect*.

But, as other people have told you, recycling usually uses less energy than obtaining and processing virgin material (raw ore, wood, and so on), and also reduces our need for such virgin material, which lets us leave more of the environment untouched, and/or leaves more resources available for future use.

It really depends on how you want to look at it.

Some negative side effects are that chemicals will be released by recycling processes, which can deteriorate the quality of the water that you are talking about and it can also damage the environment. Also, be careful about what you recycle, as many items recycled cannot actually be used and end up in landfills anyway.

However, look at it this way. Recycling is more energy efficient and environmentally safer than the actual process of making the original product and throwing it into a dump or landfill. It may be more expensive, but if companies are willing to take the hit for the environment, it is worth it. The best thing you can do is recycle things yourself. Here's something I did that made me some money: I went to the beach and picked up some empty cans. I made them into wind chimes using other things I found on the beach. I made a few hundred dollars when I did it (over a 2 month span). Your reuse does not have negative effects, it just keeps junk out of landfills. Use your old items in the house too, don't just throw stuff away.

As the name suggest Recycling is reusing material, so if you use products again that is wasted than definitely this helps to save environment. You are going to make a god project.. Keep it up..

Erosion is caused by fluids like wind and water carrying material away, not by trash. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erosion

Picking up trash along the creeks and parks will make them prettier. http://cricketbread.com/blog/2008/05/12/...

For your science project, you could look to see what type of life is making a home in the trash. http://www.issues.cc/complaints/great-pa...

Recycling plastics means sending them to China.

Some of the benefits of recycling are not to waste natural resources, instead we reuse recycle things for our everyday use. :)

Recycling often uses less energy than does using virgin materials.

For Narcosis.

Your suggestion is a bit dramatic, but it should yield a positive result if enough people do it.

"The best thing you can do is recycle things yourself."

For a project I have to recycle, so how will I make the environment better by recycling? And at the parks, and creeks i've picked up some trash. For the creeks will it help prevent erosions ( there has been erosions ). Help please for science project. I'm not sure.
