It’s clear global warming/climate change is real. It’s equally clear the > current < warming cycle has been going on since the last ice age and that’s why the Sahara was grassland 10,000 years ago but is desert today + has been desert for centuries. The fact the current warming trend started long before there was any industry and when there were hardly any people is good evidence humans are not the cause. It also means humans are not the solution.
The Earth goes through constant climate change cycles and has done so throughout its history. The exact mechanism is not well understood but appears to be related to solar activity and not human activity. Note that the Earth is apparently at the end of the current warming cycle and should begin cooling soon (“soon” in geological terms).
All of the carbon tax/carbon offset BS is just robbery or extortion disguised as science. Countries like China and India LOVED the idea of carbon taxes/carbon offsets – but only when they could pretend to be “undeveloped”. Once it was pointed out both are horrific polluters of > every type < they suddenly weren’t so keen on the idea. Only the global Left and countries like North Korea & Zimbabwe still love the idea of carbon taxes.
The Left loves the idea because they are dedicated to destroying the West in general and the USA in particular. Getting the developed world to wreck its own industrial base is something they want. Having the West simultaneously give free guilt-money to countries like North Korea & Zimbabwe would just make it better.
Unfortunately, scientific research has been compromised by the politics of the subject. The academic community leans far to the Left, so researchers who “prove” human-caused global warming (AGW) are rewarded with more grants, but researchers who don’t “prove” AGW find themselves cut off.
The politics of the issue are a problem because we really do need to understand how the Earth works so we can anticipate, predict, and adjust. We also need to reduce actual pollution that is poisoning our environment, and countries like China & India shouldn’t get a free ride.
Global warming may or may not be true but making a snow-storm a witness against global warming is hilarious. I personally believe the globe is heating up but what will be it's effects is not a foregone conclusion as each scientist has his\her own data model and predictions. So Let's wait and watch - in the meantime let's hurt the planet as less as possible and hope the backlash doesn't kill the world we call our home.
Actually, warmer weather can potentially cause *more* snow. Warmer winter weather, that is.
Imagine you have somewhere that had a typical average winter temperature of, say, -8C. Now, let's say the area has 3C of warming. The temperature will now average -5C. Still below freezing, but a bit warmer.
Warm air holds more moisture than cold air. If it's really cold, there will be no snow, because there will be no moisture in the air to become snow. It's why Antarctica, despite the substantial body of ice present, is a desert by most definitions.
So, if you warm the air, but still keep it below freezing--like our example above, where temps went from -8C to -5C--you're likely to have noticeably more snow. It's only when temperatures get above (or, at least, roughly to) freezing that you stop getting snow.
Do you get what an average is? If you plot the daily high temperature with the daily average high temperature for that date, what would you expect it to look like? It should be a smooth curve with the same number of points above it as below it, right? Then why is it twice as many points are above it than below it for the last year? The chances of this occurring naturally are 10 billion to one. Something is causing this, but what? Well, the level of CO2 in the atmosphere is the highest level in over 800,000 years. Maybe, just maybe, there is something to this whole global warming thing?
It is a totally political subject. There is no science to it.

Even though this snow storm is not indicative of Global Warming or an imminent Ice Age it will be used for political purposes by those who say, "You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before."
There was glacial coverage across the northern hemisphere about 20,000 years ago. Our ancestors had to get together to develop SUVs and start burning fossil fuels to heat up the atmosphere. It seems they were super effective.
Can you say winter?? Global warming is real, it is happening now and humans are responsible for it. This is mid winter and snowstorms do happen. In fact although east coast gets snow storms, GW/climate change is and will be responsible for unusual weather such as blizzards. it is not just about warming, it is about a myriad of weather events droughts, torrential rains, floods, heat waves, blizzards, forest fires at unexpected times and sometimes in unexpected places.

is not real, if it was why is there a snow storm hitting the east coast? Now that is proof. There is no proof of some hole in the atmospere. there is proof on the news, 2 feet of snow hitting, breaking records. If it's getting so warm how could this happen. people are so gullible, why do they think global warming is really happening? is it because of the republicans trying to take our money for themselves?
