CR, Antarctica is one of the driest places on earth. Where did you get the idea it is wet? And lack of animals has nothing to do with being a desert. It is as S said, dry and cold.
Dry with cold winters. Summers may be very hot.

Antarctica is not dry. It could be called a desert because of the lack of living organisms, but not because of a lack of moisture.
