Air pollution difference in 70's New York and current Beijing?

Air pollution was much worse then, but according to most reports, Beijing now is much worse. It is difficult to give an accurate answer because Chinese government hides the data.

I've seen pollution in NYC, Atlantic City, and Los Angeles. From what I've heard, all of them put together could not match Beijing. Remember when the city had to be essentially shut down in order to clear up pollution so the Olympics could be held in 2008?

China has a pollution problem we alll agree .

But what has pollution got to do with Global Warming ?

The Green propagandists are trying to link the two but clearly they are two different issues ??

as far as i know; china has the worst air pollution of any country in the world.

I'm curious because I live in Beijing and people everywhere, whether in Beijing or over the rest of the world, are talking about how polluted it is. My dad says when he was little and they drove through NYC, the pollution was so bad you couldn't see across the river, but it's much better now. Beijing's air, however, has been getting progressively worse (I consider this the reason for Beijingers' disgusting habit of hacking and spitting absolutely everywhere). Which was statistically worse, Beijing or former New York's air pollution?
