Will the Keystone Pipeline stop alternate energy?

Or just the import of oil from OPEC nations?

You are exactly right.

The Keystone pipeline would reduce the carbon footprint. Provide more and better quality oil than the Mid East. Keep more money at home. Provide less money for terrorism. Employ people here in the US. Free up our highways and railways. Just to name a few benefits.

Why would anyone want to stop alternative energy? My calculator works pretty good on solar energy. They will find their uses in many ways. Why can't we use them all?

Let's just try and make it fair to all involved. Costs are already rising because our Federal Reserve Bank is flooding our monetary system with paper money. The stock market seems to be swallowing it up though and prices keep getting higher for the poorer people.

Response to asker:

I think that the environmental group would disagree with you. The radicals want us all riding bikes I think. They think it is a big threat against alternative energy. I saw today that electric cars aren't as green as previously thought and are much more CO2 productive. That is a big blow to their cause.

I don't mind alternative energy. At least we know that we have it and we have spent the money anyway. Let's find uses for them.

It won't stop the expensive alternate energy development, just put it at the right level. It is great for boats and caravans in sunny climates but not for heavy industry in the sunless UK.

The bigger advantage comes from the fact that a percentage of the money spent on OPEC oil will return to us in the form of Bombs and bullets and any reduction there will be a bigger advantage to the whole planet.

All of that oil will be exported to China and India. If the US government could get 50% of the profits that might make this a deal. If the US public could get a buck off the cost of a gallon of gas, that would be a deal. The problem is...we get bupkis out of this deal, and if this pipeline causes damages even if the damage is 'paid for' the ecological damage will beyond repair. I only know the oil mafias take on this...which is everyone makes out, there's no danger to the public, there will be no pollution and everything will be wonderful.

The biggest threat to alternative energy is the push for alternative energy based on the non-sense notion that it's not competitive because there is fossil fuel industry conspiracy to prevent them from being competitive, that the price of fossil fuels is artificially lower because we aren't paying the true cost, and we need to stop using fossil fuels to save the planet.

Alternate energy is the wave of the future and what we need to save the planet. We should be further along but the economy runs on the price of oil. Commerce is not willing to let us move on the course of a cleaner earth. Hopefully mankind make changes so we can clean up this planet before it is too late.

Neither. It will make it easier and cheaper for crude oil to get to US refineries.

The solar and wind crowd are religious zealots. They will never give up on those half-baked ideas.

I doubt it will have a great effect on imports. Imports are cheaper than fracked gas or shale oil with or without Keystone. It will to some extent inhibit development of wind and solar which, on a broad scale, are still likely to be more expensive than the newer shale sources.

I hope so, alternative energy sucks.
