There are equally silly claims about the vikings, and what they did in Greenland deniers claim they grew vegetables in Greenland (i.e the implication being it was warmer then than it is now) this is denier "accountability" they simply make up stories. One of our ill informed even tried to claim they ate potatoes as well, even though the potato was a South American plant unknown in Europe until 500 years later, but that's denial for you.
As for the Vikings themselves, they didn't grow vegetables in Greenland, the archeology shows they lived on meat and fish supplemented with grasses which they used to make things like beer, they also used these grasses as feed for their animals, grasses like wheat and barley which are very hardy and will grow in places many other plants will not and would have grown in the shallow top soil just above the permafrost is Summer. So not really showing it was warmer at all. In fact today in Greenland they are starting to be able to grow real vegetables.

There is a big difference between wasting fuel/energy ( which I don't agree with) and causing climate change, CO2 is not causing warming it's first 40 to 100ppm did nearly all of the warming.
We need energy for industry without we would go back to dark ages, and I am sorry wind and solar are just not able to produce it when we need it, plus they are so expensive, and use up huge tracts of land, yes we need to look for other forms of energy, cutting back on energy is cutting back on progress and prosperity.

Global warming is climate change. It has run it's cycle for thousands of years. Now that ice is melting there have been finds of villages that were covered in ice. It is not humans that caused this. It is the climate. When those villages were around there was not fossil fuel. It was just the weather. It is that simple
