What do you think it would be like in 2050?

I would like your own opinion, thanks x

There will be a lot of new inventions and technologies people will use, on the other hand, there will possibly be even more poverty because there'll be less resources for people - but this in case of adverse development according to the scenario "poor will get poorer, rich will get richer".

There is also possibility that people will get less greedy and cruel, those who were lucky will not keep everything for only themselves and build themselves palaces with walls covered in gold ( especially true for Indian billionaires ) but will start investing into projects beneficial for people around them, like building houses for poor people, removing slums and employing their inhabitants in their companies despite the rational downsizing strategy.

People will certainly be more educated, number of illiterate people will definitely decrease, and probably completely disappear in countries which are on the rise now: India, Brazil, China, Vietnam ect., three latter ones already almost achieved this.

Dollar will probably not be the main currency any more, this will allow the aforementioned countries to become independent on it and they will be developing even faster. Particularly China will most likely stop shipping majority of its products abroad and overseas, the people there will be able to afford everything their country produces. They will not need the US monetary system as a medium of trade, they will trade resources directly with Russia and Iran in their own currencies.

They already made the first step towards this several days ago with foundation of BRICS Bank - international bank governed by Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, which is intended to become a rival to the IMF.

The countries which have nuclear arsenal will keep it, so I doubt there will be any major war. And in addition to this, everyone today understands that killing people is wrong and is able to imagine how terrible war is, so people will realize it's better to live in peace and solve conflicts diplomatically instead of using weapons, yet those who will attempt to break this order will be destroyed.

As many people already mentioned, the problem of the future will not be wars between countries, people already overcame this part of history, but the groups of insurgents who desire to gain power with violence.

Anyway, I am looking forward. :)

since you're asking this in Global Warming, I'm going to assume you mean what the climate will be like, rather than what the political, sociological, or technological situation will be like.

That depends on what we do between now and then.

If we start to take decisive action against AGW, essentially immediately, I suspect that by '50, we will be back to about the temperatures we have now, as natural factors (like carbon accumulation by plants and soil) will reduce atmospheric CO2 to current levels or lower.

If we start to take a little action against AGW soonish, my guess is that the world's average temperature will be somewhere between .5 and 1C higher than it currently is. We will have more weather-related natural disasters, crop failures from heat or pests, and rising sea levels (and attendant storm surges and the like) will threaten New Orleans, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and several low-lying island nations. Though, under this scenario, the sea level rise should be low enough that we can rescue those areas without much trouble.

If we keep up with "business as usual", we will be almost out of oil, temperatures will probably rise 2 or 3C, we'll have even more weather-related disasters and crop failures, and we'll basically lose all of the low-lying areas I mentioned under the second scenario. And New York City will be one of the next places on the chopping block.

Now, this is basically a WAG on my part, I'm not a climate scientist. But I think it's a tolerably informed guess.

waste land someone is going to bomb san francisco where one of the tectonic plates is exposed more then the others and this will cause earthquakes the likes of which we have never seen biological warfare will be used to destroy the enemies life stock but the virus will mutate and kill all humanity as we know it united state will launch a spaceship with supplies to survive for four years and will come back to earth and ten thousand years later this will happen all over again just like before.

Criminals and thugs have taken over and the liberals will be fighting to get the 2nd Amendment back.

A lot colder we are going into a Solar Minimum.

the world will be polluted to the max people will mostly be evil and there will be cool technology out but most people will be poor anyway because of recessions

It'll be pretty much like it is at the moment. Except more crowded.

Our heavenly Father will still be in control of Earth's temperature.
